It's a good idea to seek advice, contrary to what at least one answerer said!

I had a bunch of pictures in various sizes of frames, and I laid them out on the floor first to see how big a space I'd need. Then we hung them on a wall that didn't have anything else on it except a light switch. I put a round mirror in there too--its frame picks up some of the accents in the room. It turned out really nice.

The lowest one is probably 4'6" from the floor; the highest one is about 6' or so. (There are 8 or 9 frames in the whole thing.) With something like this, we needed a large, more or less empty space.

I hope this is helpful! :)

1] first, is all the furniture in place?
2] how many pictures do you have? 3? 30? some large paintings look best alone, many small ones look better in a group.
3] after you decide furniture, and which pictures go with that room, lay them out on the floor, in a pre- measured section the size of the wall space.
4] for groupings, try 2-3-4 in geometric forms, like square, diamonds, lines, depending on wall space. Groupings work best in pics with similar themes.
I try to use similar frames and mattings in my pics, so they can be moved to different rooms or homes.

I have always heard and followed this : hang the pictures at eye level. Some people hang them way to high towards the ceiling and its not attractive. When doing it eye level..that would be an average height. Of course if you are 6 ft 6in tall then you would hang a little lower, if you are 4 ft 10 in..hang a little higher then your eye level.

1) your good sense. 2) the size , the theme, the color(s), and the type of frame . 3) the lighting of the surrounding area and 4) the type of room it's to be in= does it fit?

Hang what you want where you want is the formula I use. If you need someone to tell you what and where you should not attempt this on your own
