I need to take my 14 year old cat to the vet this week but he is very AGGRESSIVE! I can't even take him in my arms, he bites and scratches me! He's always been like that, I don't know why! Would there be something I could give him so I can control him???

Yes, don't worry, vets know what to do to cope with all types of cat. Our normally placid male cat HATES the vet he turns into a ninja warrior. It's very embarrassing, he has warning messages on his vets record. As he doesn't have to go very often we just put gardening gloves on lol. We just try and talk to him and stroke him to calm him down and get it over with asap. You could try cat nip or feliway spray on the carrier to calm him down, I have heard that works.

Get a sedative from the vet. The kitty needs to go to the doctor so he'll tell you what to do.
My cats are afraid of the vet as well so when I have to go I take the cat carrier and stand it up so the door is facing the ceiling. I do this way before and not let the cat see me. Preferrably in a bathroom so you can close the door. Then when he least expects it I pick him up and pet him and very quickly drop him hind legs first into the waiting box. The key here is very quickly! And then shut the door fast. lol
See if there is a vet who can come to your home. Mobile vets are getting common around here.

Good luck

A cat carrier is the best thing to have, and they're not expensive. They also keep the cat out from under the gas pedal in the car, AND you won't loose a panicked pet on the street trying to get him into the clinic.

Vets with experience with ferals will be able to handle any house cat. Call and see if your vet treats ferals or is experienced with fearful and aggressive cats.

There are several. One is a liquid but the cat usually detects it in his food and realizes that Something Is Up. There are a couple in the form of a tablet or a fraction of a tablet, and they're easy to hide in a morsel of food, especially in a Pill Pocket (trademark name) which most cats find irresistibly tasty. And there is a gel form of fluoxetine (human form is Prozac) that you rub into the cat's ears.

Where I work we see a number of animals who need a little something to mellow them out before coming to the vet.

Just call your vet and describe the situation and he'll have something you can give your cat, and instructions regarding how many hours or minutes before the visit you should give it to him.

The vet will recommend you give your cat a bit of Benadryl-liquid for kids.It has a mild sedative effect. Also he may or may not give you an Ativan (a mild prescription sedative) for it-ask before you go.

Talk to your vet before you go in, and he can prescribe kitty valium in a very small dose that will calm your cat without knocking him out.
