Masturbation is a sin. The reason is because of lust, and lust is one of the seven deadly sins. If you are thinking of someone or watching porn, you are lusting after that person. Now if you were to masterbate and not think of anyone, then that would not be a sin because you would not be lusting.

We cannot blame God for all the bad things that happen. When God created the world and all things. the world was perfect, until Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the forbidden tree. Then God banished them from the Garden of Eden. The first murder was Cain killing his brother Abel. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for all of us. A lot of people are suffering and have a lot of heartaches. This is not Gods fault. Ask yourself what causes all this, Who causes all this? I believe some people cause other peoples heartaches and suffering.Terrible diseases are in the genes and passed down through the generations! Your faith will return when you start to realize this!

Here's a link to an in depth look at what the Bible says and doesn't say about this subject http://www.layhands.com/IsMasturbationASin.htm
As to what you describe is going on in your life, it would seem from the short sentences that you've written that you are using this practice to get a short term "feel good" experience. If it's keeping you from being in fellowship with other believers and if you find your self using it as a substitute for learning how to trust in God and seeing how He can meet your needs both emotional and psychological and spiritual and material, then it could be a stumbling block for you just like if a person over eats or gets lost in watching too much TV or any number of other activities that provide a means of escape from dealing with the reality of being a fallible human being who is living in a fallen world.
1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
When a lion wants to devour an animal that is part of a herd it will roar in order to frighten and scatter the animals and then it will pick off one who has become separated from the main body and is vulnerable. When Christians let doubt and fear separate them from the body of believers God has provided for them to be in fellowship with at a local congregation, they too become easy prey for the enemy of our souls.

Most of my thoughts about sins stem from social isolation. Should someone growing up in an isolated community in the forest or something, no missionary to ever contact them, should all those people be damned to hell because they never had a baptism or never could know of Religion?
Similarly, Genie, the feral child whose circumstances caused her to be raised without language or socialization, even when brought back into society, she could never shake the habit of masturbation. She doesn't know any better, couldn't know any better, couldn't understand the negative value society puts on it so why should she be sinning?

Well, you have a few questions in there. the first is, ‘Is masturbating a sin?’ Yes and by doing this you know yourself to be a sinner. Sinners sin. The good news is that Jesus died for sinners, for you! That you may have eternal life. This also sheds some light on another question that you have, How is it that bad things happen to good people. Jesus alone is good and He was despised rejected, crucified, died and was buried. Talk about bad things happening to good people. But on the third day He rose again that just as He lives and has Life in Himself you to may live and have Life in Him.
The bad news is really bad but the good news is truly good. for us sinners Christ gave all so that where He is there we may be also.

No, masturbating is not a "sin." Everybody in the world who is capable of doing it, does. The idea of a "God" who would condemn people to hell for their sexuality is simply a reflection on the mentality of the people who invented Him.

Masturbation is not a sin as long as you don't lust, but it doesn't matter because if you don't believe in God, you don't accept Jesus, so unless something changes, you won't go to heaven.
And God never said that people that do good works (Which are as filthy rags to God) get to have perfect lives. Read the book of Job in the BIble, it's an entire book devoted to just why bad things happen to people who do good works.

I will address your central question. Let me put it to you this way: There is nothing in the bible that directly addresses masturbation. But, it does say that lust is a sin. When people masturbate they tend to fantasize, to lust. So when you masturbate, in essence, you are sinning. As far as you not believing in God, trust me, we all get to a point where we doubt. It comes from living in an unbelieving world. You will either get to a point, because of this doubt that you have right now, where your faith will be strengthened or ultimately, you won't. I pray that you will come back to God. Have a great day. Cat

Enjoy yourself. Stop feeling guilty. For goodness sake, if it was supposed to hurt god would have added spikes or something! Just don't get used to doing it all on your own, it's much better with someone you like/love. More fun too!
be well.

Unfortunately, yes, Because when you masturbate, you are thinking sexual thoughts about another person, or lusting after them. I actually learned in confirmation that it's a sin to even lust after a woman (or man if you are a girl), even if all you do is think about wanting to have sex with them, and don't even actually sex them or masturbate about it. Thinking about having sex with someone is just as bad as actually having sex with them, in God's eyes. So, naturally, masturbating is a sin. Sorry there is no way to go around it. But if you are burning with desires is better for you to your own husband.
