Why is it NOT a terrific "gotcha" game to demand faith rather than supply sufficient proof?

In what other area of life are we required to function without our reasoning faculties fully engaged.

If a God were to exist in this way, why would it NOT be evidence of a sadistic, bullying joke?

I've been given proof of God's existence. That's why I'm not an atheist anymore. I was an atheist all my life up until 10 years ago. So I had one existential crisis when I turned 30 that lasted several years. I resisted, of course, because after all I did not believe in anything I could not see...with mine eyes...

maybe I'm special or something...I don't really know. But I've conducted all sorts of experiments, studied art and physics, and then quantum physics and realized there is something to life force and energy.

Strange, through science, I became to believe in God. I don't believe in organized religion...that's something different. That's about control and manipulation.

And through experiences, I became to know God.

I still have challenges in life, I can ask for help whenever I need it, from God, and I do receive it.

Most people don't know the difference between God and...okay...I'll say it..the Devil.

All the story books like ancient mythology and the Bible talk about these entities, it's a life force they write about, trouble is people take things literally.

If you would really pay attention...

Gotcha

Faith comes from hearing [God], and hearing comes from [the anointed preaching of] the Word of God.
Romans 10:17

You can also get it if hungry to find God, you read John's gospel - that is the most evangelistic gospel.

However, many churches can be rather lifeless; they almost try to shut the Holy Spirit out. The Holy Spirit only tends to really change people and bring them into faith; help them see they need a saviour, and show them that saviour is Jesus. But He usually needs humans to preach the message.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit on a few preachers and evangelists is so strong that people passing near by, not even hearing the message, have been so aware of the presence of God that they have had to stop, and pray to God repenting and believing. (I heard reports of this with respect to Argentinian evangelist Carlos Anacondia. If Bin Laden went to one of his meetings, he'd likely have to run away as otherwise he'd become convicted through the power of the Holy Spirit and put faith in Jesus for his salvation.)

If god were an employer, or a real parent, then a variety of legal and/or social sanctions could be brought against him.

But since he's more like an officer in boot camp, he gets off scot-free.

Unbelievable. Literally.

I'm not exactly sure what "evidence" would convince you that God exists. The Bible says that "No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." (John 1:18). Colossians 1:15 says, "He is the image of the invisible God". So, God has manifested Himself through Jesus. Was Jesus real? I've heard people ask that question. For those who do not believe the Bible, let me say that there are sources outside the Bible which prove that Jesus existed. Writings confirming Jesus’ birth, ministry, death, and resurrection include Flavius Josephus (AD 93), the Babylonian Talmud (AD 70-200), Pliny the Younger’s letter to Emperor Trajan (approx AD 100), the Annals of Tacitus (AD 115-117), Mara Bar Serapion (sometime after AD 73), and Suetorius’ Life of Claudius and Life of Nero (AD 120).”

This is physical evidence of God's existence. Before Jesus' ascended, He told His disciples to "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20). Throughout the last 2,000 plus years, this gospel has gone out through the world. People have been persecuted and killed because of the gospel of Jesus' Resurrection, paying the penalty for sin, and overcoming death and the power of sin. This all hinges on the Resurrection. Those who do not believe in the Resurrection say that Jesus' followers took His body and hid it. But, if they had just taken the body and hid it (rather than Jesus' actual resurrection) they would not have died for a lie. It is the truth. Countless millions and billions have died to defend this, and more have died in this last century for this belief than everybody before now put together.

In prosperous times, people have a tendency to forget God. He knew this. He said, "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." (Matthew 24:12) 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says, "But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away."

These words are not spoken of people who do not claim to be Christians ("having the form of godliness but denying its power" means these people are SAYING they are Christians). Because of those claiming to be Christians, but are not Christians, confusing others, people say there is no God or that He is hard to prove. Yet it is not GOD who has let people down, it is the PEOPLE of GOD who let people down."

So, why doesn't He come back now? The Bible says, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9). Not all WILL come to repentance, but God wants to give them every opportunity to come to repentance. So, He delays His return.

Yet there IS a remnant of true Christians. As people see lives transformed, even now, people can see the evidence of God even now.
