DON'T!!!! Even if you use silicon tissue paper, cleaning the CCD sensor or CMOS sensor takes real care. Make a triangle out of the tissue and use the pointed edge to remove specks (no circular motions!) If is still shows dust, it may be a problem with the lens (mold or dust) Take care in changing lenses. Do not leave the camera body open for more than a few seconds. Turn off the ventilation so that dust will not enter. If specks still sow up on your shots, take it to a nikon service center. They can clean it while you wait. you can even buy silicon tissue there and ask tips from the technician. dont try to save... in the end you will lose...

this is a job for a real professional, especially if your camera is under warranty. how do you know that it is a speck of dust? i would be more suspicious that it is a dead pixel, and no amount of scouring will bring it back to life. you should be able to move the position of dust by a simple lens blower and confirm that it is not a hardware issue. the ccd plane is an odd place to get dust unless you are working in a flour mill when changing lenses.

Don't skimp on this kind of thing! The sensor is a very sensitive part and a q-tip might damage it even with a smallest scratch. Even if it's not damaged, ever notice that some q-tip leave a small fibery particle on some surface? That can put you into a bigger trouble than what you have now.

Get the special pads and do it VERY carefully.
