I mean, that's one heck of a commitment to make without seeing the place first. We are all aware that when you're looking for a house through the classifieds it's always a good idea to go check out the place before you sign on the dotted line. You may also want to have others check it out as well, to catch the things you may miss on your own.

Christians, before you say that the only other destination is hell, please be reminded that Apple says that THEIR computers are better than the competitions as well, that's how they entice people to check out and buy into their merchandise. A used car salesman will tell you his used cars are better than the guy down the street. A preacher will tell you that his church is better than the other church in the area. It's always best to check it out yourself before you commit.

So, if I were to decide to buy into a place in heaven is there a way I could check it out and make sure its better than the other destinations of the other religions?

Soul Shaper: "Checking out a place mentally" based on the sales advertisements is not the same thing as seeing it first hand. In fact it is the exact problem the asker is describing in his analogy.

Just ask Benny Hinn he was given a tour of heaven.

No fooling he said so.

What a good idea. It would be tragically funny if Heaven was like Blackpool (Ew I feel dirty writing that down).

That's like putting a down payment on a house you never saw. I don't think heaven exists. This is what you get, now, that's it.

How are you a confirmed atheist? You ask the most questions about something you supposedly don't even believe in. You speculate about going to Heaven. You speculate about the characteristics of God.

This is illogical to me.
Why act as if something is real, when to you, it is not?
Unless, of course, you are just being antagonistic.

This book explains a lot. You can check out heaven mentally through their explanations of it.

The ironic thing about your post is that you do not see you have already bought into something without “checking it out”. You and I will both die someday and we will be on the other side of deaths door longer than on this side. You will then find out what you have invested in and whether it was a good deal or not.

Allow me to share one of the parables from the Book of Luke:

And one of those reclining with Him, hearing these things, he said to Him, Blessed are those eating bread in the kingdom of God. But He said to him, A certain man made a great supper and invited many. And he sent his slave at the supper hour to say to those who had been invited, Come, for now all is ready. And all with one mind began to beg off. The first said to him, I have bought a field, and I have need to go out and see it; I ask you, have me excused. And another said, I bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to try them out; I ask you, have me excused. And another said, I married a wife, and for this reason I am not able to come. And having come up that slave reported these things to his lord. Then being angry, the housemaster said to his slave, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and maimed and lame and blind ones. And the slave said, Sir, it has been done as you ordered, and still there is room. And the lord said to the slave, Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I say to you that not one of those men who had been invited shall taste of my supper.
(Luk 14:15-24)

What we see in this parable are those who trust in what they already have. ‘I have enough already, thank you very much!’ What they did not realize how foolish they were. Let’s look at them one at a time.

1.The first had bought a field and now he is going to see it. This is the kind of man you want to sell swamp land to. Who buys a land and does not first go and see it but this is his retirement and he has bought the farm, so to speak, he must now go and see it.
2.The second buys 5 yoke of Oxen and now he is going to try them. Another foolish decision, This is his work force this is his bread and butter but he does not know if this work team will work at all, but he already bought them so what else can he do?
3.The third announces that he has married a wife and for that reason cannot come. This seems quite foolish, why don’t you just bring your wife? But the man is content with his pleasures and need not be bothered by the giver of the great banquet. He has all he needs right here and now and is fully satisfied.

These are the ones that truly have invested in what they do not know what, but will have to wait to find out if it was a good investment or not. The rest, those crippled, poor and blind had nothing to trust in. They had no money for lands or oxen and were despised and no one wanted to marry them so the Master told his servants go and compel them to come for ‘my house will be full’ these are the ones with nowhere else to go, Mr. Atheist. They are not “buying” into anything, they are receiving an everlasting banquet. Not because they are worthy of it but because of the kindness of the Master of the house.

We have nowhere else to go Mr. Atheist and we are compelled to go to a feast that we have not seen but since we have nothing we trust it will be better than we have. But you, Mr. Atheist have all you need right now. You have your land that you have bought and the Oxen you will someday test and your wife that brings you contentment. Be happy with what you have, we shall go to the feast.
