Unfortunately, depression causes inactivity. Most depressed people are unable to be active due to a chemical imbalance in the brain.

But if you can stay busy, that's good.

Hopefully you are on medication. That's a second chance at happiness. Good luck!

Yes it certainly does help, but isn't a cure. The ptsd will give you problems most of your life, but the depression, you can take medication for it, and it will help you tremendously become somewhat stable with your ptsd. This doesn't mean you aren't strong, or you are dependent on pills; it means you do what you have to do to take care of yourself in the best way possible; so you can have a good quality of life for yourself. It reduces those "really bad days" down to just "bad days," and "bad days" that are manageable.

You will have your bad days, everyone does. But make the best of all your days. I also find staying busy helps with my depression. I find it distracts me from the negatives, while accomplishing something positive. These small accomplishments can add up to make you feel great. Do whatever makes YOU feel good. Take Care.

Staying busy helps you to have a purpose and less time to feel sorry for yourself. So, of course it's normal. It is not normal to be depressed all the time.

Are you seeking out some talk therapy with a counselor to find out the root of this depression so you can work on it?

Yes it is normal.

That means that you are discovering that you can control how you feel.

Keeping busy keeps your mind off your problems.

Go a step further, when you are starting to feel depressed.

Write down what happened that may have caused you to feel this way.

Write down all the things you are thinking about what happened.

Write down how you feel.

Now go over what you wrote about thinking and see if there is another way of thinking about the same thing that may apply better to what happened.

Sometimes our thinking and worrying about something starts us into the blues then leads us to depression.

Writing it down helps to make our thinking a little clearer.

I think so.
My depression is worse on my off days. Work suck but it distracts me from my thoughts.
When I am home I try to keep busy. It seems to work best.

I would certainly think that if you are distracted by other things it doesn't give your mind the time to dwell on your problems.
