If you have depression from a chemical (serotonin) imbalance, the zoloft was prescribed to balance that act. You will only become more depressed by getting off of it. ( If it was working for you.) It's recommended you never stop an antidepressant cold turkey. You should wean yourself off always. By the way, and most importantly, was the zoloft helping with your depression?
Obviously, if you were taking something for depression, you still need to be on something. Sometimes when we take medication, we begin to feel better and then start thinking we no longer need the meds. WRONG! The meds are why we are feeling so much better. If you start experiencing more depression, please see your doctor again...tell him/her that you got off the zoloft and let him/her help you from there. I hope all goes well for you.

I took that when I was in college and I stopped taking it during the holidays and it was fine. I didn't get any side effects, maybe an occasional headache here or there, but I think you'll be ok just pay attention to how your body reacts in a few days and also make sure your doctor knows about you being off the medicine.

It really depends on the person. You might not have any side effects at all. Just be ready to call somebody in the mental health system if you feel really depressed.
Oh and to the guy below me.... Antidepressants aren't addictive in nature.

You might still feel side effects. I would keep a few around to take if things get unbearable. I have never been able to go off antidepressants like that.

You may not have any side affects by going off Zoloft, but somewhere your depression will return. You will have to start all over for any antidepressant to work well now. Unless you have a "magic cure" or "magic pill" for depression.

I don't know how much you were on and how long, those two things are the determining factors. Also, how your body metabolizes it too.
It is NEVER a good idea to quit cold turkey any type of drug that is psychotropic and addictive. Don't get me wrong, I am not pro-med for much that is diagnosed as "mental illness".
What was your reason for going off of it?

I had none when I went off it other than getting my happiness back. That stuff did nothing but make me depressed.
