I'm just curious because I can't imagine a person who believes and accepts Christ yet goes out a commits a heinous crime such as rape or murder can be saved.

Religion is a poor predictor of morality.

The whole Santa Christ who knows if you've been good or bad, and watches you all year long to determine if you get a reward in the end, really doesn't do much to instill a good morality in people. It might work some for children, but that's it.

Is there a Christian doctrine that states simply that by being "good" and not "evil" we are granted salvation?

Quite the opposite. The Bible says we are all sinners and have all fallen short and there is no good works that we can do to pay for the penalty for that or to earn our own way to salvation.

Salvation was brought and paid for by Jesus on the cross and includes even rapists and murderers IF they repent, accept Jesus and, with the Holy Spirit's help, sin no more.

It’s as simple as this: We broke God’s Law, and Jesus paid our fine. If you will repent and trust in the Savior, God will forgive your sins and dismiss your case no matter what you did.

I know it's unfair and we don't deserve it, but Jesus Christ suffered the punishment we deserved so we could be forgiven of our sins and be brought back into fellowship with God.

There is no greater love than this!

Jesus told the adulterer, "Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin no more."

Did you notice the expectation there in the words of Jesus? He said "sin no more"

I believe that answers your question. You cannot say you are saved, but then have such things in your heart as rape and murder. These things are not the things of a heart changed by Jesus.

We are not granted salvation by doing good. No one is good enough. We all sin. We are given salvation as a free gift. But, we are expected to "sin no more". Does that mean christians never sin again? Of course not. But we do strive for perfection. Perfection should be our goal. We would, therefore, not choose to live in a sinful lifestyle of rape, murder, sexual immorality, etc.

Well there are no conditions that have to be met, and of course only God actually knows what is in a persons brain, but it would be true that if a person was "saved" with a true understanding of Jesus Christ, committing a crime would not preclude or override their salvation, but I doubt you will find many Christians robbing banks and committing rape.

Read of those that Christ healed. Were they the good? no where does it say that rape or murder will be forgiven. Many claim the name of Christ but in that day He will say "I have not known you." . You need to read the book. You will find that it says NONE are worthy that all are deserving destruction. Those that truly seek Christ will be saved not by their own actions but by Christs. We can not see the hearts of men and a lie is as good as the truth until the lie is proven.

No.

You are wrong. People who commit heinous crimes can be saved.

The basic premise of Christianity is very simple.

Everyone makes mistakes (is a sinner).

People who realize that they make mistakes, understand what those mistakes are and learn from those mistakes (repent) become better people.

God wants to hang out with people who learn from their mistakes.

People who do not learn from their mistakes get to hang out someplace else.

Pretty simple.

Essentially all you have to do to become saved is:

Love the Teacher who made the Rules with all of your Heart, all your Mind and all your Soul.

Accept that the Teacher Loved you so much that He came to Earth to show you the correct way to behave and that people hated that idea so they killed the Teacher, but, the Teacher overcame even Death.

Learn what rules the Teacher made.

Accept that you make mistakes and that making mistakes does not keep you away from the Teacher.

Learn from those mistakes and constantly become a better person.

Accept that continually repeating the same mistakes keeps you from the Teacher

Help others to become better people.

Pretty simple stuff.

A person who truly accepts Christ would never do such horrible things.

No.

Scripture is clear. Salvation comes through GRACE alone. GRACE comes through FAITH alone. FAITH comes from hearing (SCRIPTURE alone).

The Faith of one of the Criminals hanging next to Christ on the Cross earned him salvation. Christ said "today you will be with me in paradise".

We are all sinners and are unworthy of Gods Grace, yet Grace is what it is, un-deserved love. All the Lord requires is faith, and repentance. Repentance is one of the gifts that we also receive through faith.

The only un-pardonable sin that is mentioned in the Bible is a sin against the Holy Spirit. This sin occurs when one who has faith and knowledge turns against God, as the devil and the other fallen angels did.

Murder, rape, pedophilia etc. can be forgiven, provided that the guilty person repents, and asks for Gods forgiveness. Along with remorse, one must also pray for strength to amend their life, and allow the Holy Spirit to work this renewal in them.

Salvation is through the blood.
1. Admit you are a sinner. The Bible, God's Holy Word, says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10; also Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
2. You must realize that sin bears a penalty. Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Revelations 20:14 says, "And death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
3. You must accept the fact that Jesus has already paid the sin debt you owe. We read in Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Christ died to pay the penalty for your sins because He loves you and cares about you.
4. You must accept by faith what Christ has done for you. Again from the book of Romans 10:9 we read, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt beleive in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Friend if you wish to know you're going to heaven ask Jesus into your heart right now. Its easy. Pray a prayer like this one: Dear God I know I'm a sinner and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ your Son died for me and shed His blood to pay the price for my sins. I am willing to turn from my sins. I now invite Christ to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life as my perfect Savior. Amen.

If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, then this is the beginning of a new and beautiful life for you. To help you along here are a few suggestions:

· Read your King James Bible everyday to get to know Christ better.
· Talk to God everyday in prayer.
· Be baptized, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is taught and the Bible is the final authority.
· Tell others about what Jesus Christ has done for you.

Christ is your only hope for heaven. Don't put off this decision. You don't know in these times how soon you might be meeting Jesus.

"Be not afraid, only believe." Mark 5:36
