The sane theists would say that yes Science and God can be mixed, the Insane Theists would say that God did it. The Atheists will say that Science did it.

God is a word. God is a word. God is a word.
God can mean a lot to a lot of different people. He can be the creator, the destroyer, the judge, the jury, the non-existent, the frustrated, the mean, the loving, the son, the principle, the executioner, the abstract, the absolute, the one, the many, the face, the head, the heart, the penis, all can be seen as God.
So why? Why is so much seen as God? Why is there not one concrete definitio of God. The way that Creator has a concrete definition, or perfection has a concrete meaning though not a exact definition. Maybe because God is like a name, or title, it is describing someone, or something, so it is not fully defining what it is. If you said I am Julian, you must first know who I am before you can use my name. So what am I? A person? A human? A spirit? What is God? The absolute? The perfect? The good? Why not the imperfect? The bad? The non-existent. I suppose it's how you look at it.
But creator, did someone create the universe? All I know is that you are constantly creating your own universe as we speak, and all I can say is do it wisely. For yours and my sake.

I think the area you are talking about is where division occurs. Science is a human thing. Science has to have an answer, if it doesn't then it is rejected.
Spirituality, as this is what you call God, doesn't need the answers. This is because we all have the answers. we don't know it all the time, if we did there would be no scientists.
It is for you to find where you are in the universe, if I convince you, then you believe in me. I am like you ,only human, what I feel to be right is what I have learnt so far.
Suggested reading, Celestine prophecies, It been around a while, you could well find one in the charity shops, Its classed as inspirational reading. If you are thinking, whats to deal here, then read it, it offers a pool of thought.

I do every day. I find science and religion to be like two parallel rails combined to make one track. As far as accuracy...well that's a laugh we change our science language daily as we discover new things and find we weren't exactly right about in our first hypothesis which led to the second hypothesis. It's not so easy to change our religious beliefs. However, both sides scream "heresy" if we don't prescribe to exactly what they teach...
Using a little common sense, we might easily see that what words or symbols we use to describe time is the basis of much argument.
Interestingly enough, I couldn't find any "atheist in space" in the search engines anywhere perhaps you can. Or write Madalyn Murray may be she could point one out to you. Space travel being our leading edge technology. So since we have already traveled in space it may be fair to say that when we used our science to get there, we took our religious beliefs with us. I've been studying up on this new "string theory" that is supposed to explain the universe (you can watch it free "The Elegant Universe" online at NOVA). I asked myself the same question as I was pondering this show. I believe that these scientific theories make me more sure of God's existance. Science has made me aware of how complex and profound nature and life is. I think all of the doubts I have ever had about God have came from the bible, the church, and the people that claim to believe.

Yes, its called scientology, and some folks in California are making an awfully huge profit from brainwashing folks with its ideas.
But if you want a sensible answer, its a resounding No!
The nearest you get to mixing God with Science is Charles Darwin, in that he looked a bit like God didn't he? He wrote his book entitled 'your a f*****g monkey mate', well he revised the title a few times, and in a last ditch effort to not upset the religious idiots too much called it 'On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.' It was subsequently shortened to the Origin of Species after its was first published in 1859.
The problem is that his work was inspired by a his studies during the second voyage of HMS Beagle (27 December 1831 to 2 October 1836) where the student clergyman Charles Darwin did lots of research. He then spent 20 years applying his theories to different models before he was satisfied that his model was successful. 25 years work is a lot more convincing than just trying to plug holes in theory with magic.
If you are going to follow magic, then you are better off reading Harry Potter, than ANY OF THE TRIPE THAT THE CULT OF scientology PUKES OUT.
If God was so clever why on earth did he invent sharks, they are pure evil, they eat us, and they eat fish. We need the fish, what was so Intelligent in that design? Its the same with flies. why did god create an animal that is pure misery, spreads around disese and death? And is so stupid that it can't negotiate a simple window?
you can not believe in a scientific fact like the big bang, and still cling to medieval superstition of the bible, its like .. well if I gave you an example it would be considered a violation, just trust me on that one - ok its like believing that if you buy a good hunting gun, to shoot the storks with, you will not get pregnant, but understanding about conception at the same time. drop the storks and fairies tales!

Who then created the Big Bang? Who created the 2 tiny atoms that banged into each other in this vast space that we know of?
God created the scientists to learn and discover and teach the rest of us.
Faith can't be taught. You come to it when you search for Him. I suggest to find a Bible study group and join for at least 3 months and see if things change for you. Ask if there is a Bible study group that is learning about science. I did 2 yrs ago and it was amazing. Good luck in your search! God bless!

I don't know about any material that can help convince but I too share the same belief with you. I too like to be realistic with things but I too believe that there are some things that science cannot explain.
I think it's about following your heart yet also using your head that helps.

dont think there is any answer that could convince any one person of something we cannot prove
without experiencing it for yourself
how can another person understand the beginning of who and what we are stories ,science can only lead us to truth for ourselves depending on the journey we take individually
the black hole they have discovered recently with no matter?
big bang?
very difficcult to answer, its all a mystery
enjoy your journey

Perhaps Dr Collins testimony might be of some value to you.
http://www.tektonics.org/scim/sciencemony.htm
Dr. Francis S. Collins is Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He currently leads the Human Genome Project, directed at mapping and sequencing all of human DNA, and determining aspects of its function. His previous research has identified the genes responsible for cystic fibrosis, neurofibromatosis, Huntington's disease and Hutchison-Gilford progeria syndrome. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences. For the rest of his credentials, click on the link here: http://www.genome.gov/10000980. Collins spoke with Bob Abernethy of PBS, posted online at http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/transcripts/collins.html, in which he summaries the compatability of fact and faith thusly:
"I think there's a common assumption that you cannot both be a rigorous, show-me-the-data scientist and a person who believes in a personal God. I would like to say that from my perspective that assumption is incorrect; that, in fact, these two areas are entirely compatible and not only can exist within the same person, but can exist in a very synthetic way, and not in a compartmentalized way. I have no reason to see a discordance between what I know as a scientist who spends all day studying the genome of humans and what I believe as somebody who pays a lot of attention to what the Bible has taught me about God and about Jesus Christ. Those are entirely compatible views.
"Science is the way -- a powerful way, indeed -- to study the natural world. Science is not particularly effective -- in fact, it's rather ineffective -- in making commentary about the supernatural world. Both worlds, for me, are quite real and quite important. They are investigated in different ways. They coexist. They illuminate each other. And it is a great joy to be in a position of being able to bring both of those points of view to bear in any given day of the week. The notion that you have to sort of choose one or the other is a terrible myth that has been put forward, and which many people have bought into without really having a chance to examine the evidence. I came to my faith not, actually, in a circumstance where it was drummed into me as a child, which people tend to assume of any scientist who still has a personal faith in God; but actually by a series of compelling, logical arguments, many of them put forward by C. S. Lewis, that got me to the precipice of saying, 'Faith is actually plausible.' You still have to make that step. You will still have to decide for yourself whether to believe. But you can get very close to that by intellect alone."

Science is knowledge gained by experimentation with observation and documentation. Science is governed by laws that are instilled by God to bring about revelation of Him. All science points to a Creator. Everything is to intricate and precise to think that it came about by chance.
