Having a toddler of my own, I sure do understand picky eaters! However, drinking milk alone is not sufficient in the long run. Your grandson is missing out on any vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are not present in the milk. Therefore, over time, this lack of nutrients may cause him harm, or affect his development in some way you may not be aware of. Maybe your daughter could try giving your grandson milk based foods such as yogurt and fruit smoothies as a way to introduce other foods slowly into his diet. They aren't very solid, but you can disguise a lot of other things in a smoothie! Who knows... maybe your grandson will find a food he likes and will want to try it in it's regular form. Good luck! I hope this helps :o)

Absolutely not. The child's time of having milk as the only source of nourishment is long since over. He needs a broad range of vitamins and minerals, as well as fibre and carbohydrates.
His Mum should not be giving into him - she is the boss.
Besides, when he starts school or has friends round, he is going to look like such a baby - the humiliation will probably jerk him out of this phase.

Milk will provide enough protein, fat and fluids. However, there is no fibre in a diet based only on milk and some vitamins and minerals will be missing from his diet. I guess there may have been a problem weaning your grandson. Best bet is to contact your health visitor for advice.

At 4 he does not need that amount of milk....surely some water would be beneficial...also does this child eat because drinking so much milk must fill him up

my 2 year old only wants to drink milk, milk is good for her, i just wouldnt want her to drink it and it alone, i always try to feed her loads of fruit and veg, some meat etc, i thnk that a diet of one thing alone will cause bad eating habits in him when he get older, and even now, maybe you could download some healthy eating plans for kids for her, but by no means cut out milk, its essential for good teeth n bones etc, xxxxxx

That doesn't sound good to me. MIlk contains calcium, which is important but surely he needs vitamins etc from a variety of foods, as well as needing to drink water.
I would suggest someone gets advice about this from a doctor and/or dietician as soon as possible.

I've read somewhere, our digestive systems are not used to milk and too much milk could be bad for us.
