Baby oil is best, just rub it on daily, then use a brush (very soft brush!) and brush it genitally.

My 2.5yr old son still gets it. Try putting baby oil on the scalp, leave it for a minute then get a fine tooth comb and gently scrap the cradle cap off the scalp. (be very gentle, it may get red but that is ok just don't dig in to the scalp or push hard)It will come off pretty easy if its not really bad. There is also a product called 'alpha kerry oil' and it is great for persistent cradle cap or very sensitive skin. Also the brand Ego Derm has great products for this too.

Cradle cap is very very common and children of 3 or 4 can still get it. Make sure the babies hair is only being washed with warm water as the residue of baby shampoos can cause cradle cap. Save the sweet smelly stuff for their body or buy baby products for sensitive skin.

my daughter, now about 16 months old, still gets it time to time. She had it so bad that her pediatriction(sp?) gave us a prescription for some shampoo for her. You use it twice a week or something, I don't remember now. But after a couple of using, I saw a big difference. I can't remember the name of it but it was like a salmon pink color and didnt smell very well. Just have your nieces parents ask about that and it should go away. My mom swears by using dandruff shampoo. Aparently thats how she got rid of my sons cradle cap and I didn't know it. LOL. Above all, remember that cradle cap isn't serious. I might itch a little bit but it's not going to hurt her. Take care!

My 2mo old daughter has it. Ped said Selson Blue twice a week will loosen it up and you can just flick it off when it is loose enough. Also a little on the eyebrows and behind the ears, apparently it has the ability to travel down the body if not resolved. However, for my son, the Ped in NY said baby oil to soften it, then comb it out. However, the Selson Blue, moisturizing, I wish I had that advice for him, it seems to soften it and resolve it without much picking or combing, I saw results after the first time. Good luck!

My son had terrible cradle cap. What I did was put a little baby oil on his head and rub it in before bath and then leave it. I would then also comb his scalp gently before bath and after bath. Good luck.

Our pediatrician told us to take baby oil and a soft hair brush and then put quite a bit of baby oil and soak the scalp of the baby and then work the brush in her hair. do this about 15 minutes before bath time. They also make a medication (RX) to help with this problem also.

Baby oil rubbed in to crust and leave to soften a little, say 10 Min's, if there is lots of crust use a small piece of cardboard and run it gently over scalp to remove crust. If it is only a little and it is annoying you I found that using an anti-dandruff shampoo for sensitive skin helped my kids keeping it at bay.

I used to use baby oil & put it on my daughter's head & then scarpe it out with a fine toothed comb. If it's severe the doctor or pharmacy I think has some products to help with that. Another thing to prevent it is daily washing with a mild baby shampoo & running a fine toothed comb through their hair during washing. I think I used Phisoderm on my daughter. I hope I helped good luck!

Rubbing olive oil into their scalp and leaving it overnight will help to loosen them, then give the hair a good comb and then a wash. My son still has traces though and he is 5 !
