I'm 19 years old, and just got pulled over in Hamilton County (not the county I live in) 2 weeks ago for a 79 in a 55, and receivied a $104 speeding ticket. I am already late on paying it, but have been told as long as I pay it before the warrants been out for 30 days, I just have to pay $45 extra for court costs of not appearing. The reason I have yet to pay is that I recently found out I wasn't insured at the time I was pulled over. My grandparents had been paying my insurance and didn't inform me they stopped paying the month prior, because I moved out of their house. I was driving my Mom's car, which she has a policy on, and I'm wondering what I should do. I'm going to send the money in the mail, should I send my old insurance card, will they check to see if it's valid, should I send in a copy of my Mom's policy for the car I got pulled over in, or should I send the check with no proof of insurance and hope they won't push the issue any farther, since they got their money?

Your mom has that same vehicle insured? Take them the proof of insurance that she has that vehicle insured so you won't get busted on driving a vehicle uninsured. I don't know Ohio laws that well, however, and don't know if they have a penalty for you yourself not having insurance.. some states do, but I'm wanting to say that Ohio isn't one of them.

And oh my god, DO NOT give them the old card and pretend like your insurance isn't cancelled! They -will- check and Ohio actually uses an insurance database where they can see not only that it was cancelled, but when. Presenting an insurance card for a policy that is actually cancelled as if it was not is actually fraud. You don't want to play around with that.

Did they also site you for no insurance? If not, pay the ticket for speeding. If you were sited for no insurance, you will need to take proof of insurance with you and pay the ticket at the same time.

Just pay the ticket and forget it. If they didn't ask for proof of insurance, just keep quiet about it. Then make sure you're insured now.
