If you are under 18 you get patted on the head and sent to a young offenders institute to play on the play station for a few months.
Over 18 - a mandatory five-year jail term.
That is why older gang members pass guns to the younger ones, with the consequences we saw last week.

UK Government has just solved the gun problem, any one with a gun can now hand it in and no questions asked!!!!
Now I assume this has been agreed by all political groups???
So we now have the leader of the opposition political party saying we should all "Hug a hoody" (a hoody is a yob)! Because the root of the problem is that they didnt get enough love and hugs at an early age!!!
Now we have a combined political agreement that this gun amnesty will help to stop gun crimes in the UK!!!
I only recently found out that the UK is about 3 from the top of the world list for gun related crimes???
For a place where guns are banned there is something wrong here dont you think?
I have always been a staunch Labour supporter , and I suppose that comparing the 2 main party's I always will be.
But dont I remember all this happing before? I think the last one was knifes, you could hand in your knife or meat cleaver , no questions asked, did that do any good?? I think not!
I havent really answered your question, because I dont know the answer except to say that whatever it is it isnt enough!
It really is a scarey feeling to think that we have a parliment that comes up with this 'amnesty' as a solution (or even a part solution to this particular problem)!
What makes it even more frighting is that I am sure the rest of the world has similar problems, we have complete nuts representing us. HELP HELP !!
Thanks for this opportunity of allowing me to have my little wobbler, I'm off to the pub now to continue the debate, and if no one wants to listen, I'll shoot the basta*ds!!
No risk of retaliation they all handed their guns in this morning.

As others have pointed out, it's not approved of, and carries a 5 year custodial sentence. Plus tests would be done on the gun to see if it had been used in any crimes, then you would have to prove that it was not you that did them. Not a good spot to be in.
If you find one in, at any time, just hand it to the local nick, that is not a problem, and no offence. I would phone first to say that you were coming in though!

It is an offence under section 21 of the Firearms Act of 1968 as amended, for anyone convicted of a criminal offence, to handle, possess, or shoot a firearm and ammunition (this includes Air Guns). If the sentence was for more than three years the prohibition is for life; if less than three years the prohibition is for 5 years.

Its actually a offence under section 1 not section 21 of the firearms act,

(a) to have in there possession, or to purchase or acquire, a firearm to which this section applies without holding a firearm certificate in force at the time, or otherwise than as authorised by the certificate;
(b) to have in there possession, or to purchase or acquire, any ammunition to which this section applies without holding a firearm certificate in force at the time, or otherwise than as authorised by such certificate, or in quantities in excess of those so authorised.

Maximum sentence is five years

section 21 refers to a convicted criminal not joe public
