Why are there so many different religions, when fundamentally faiths such as Jewadism, Islam and Christianity (apologises to other major faiths that I have missed out) are the same in the aspects of:
Believing and praying to one God, acting according on earth to gain rewards in the after life, promoting peace and the final day of judgement. I know that certain things set different faiths apart, but fundamentally aren't they not all the same...so why so many arguments????

You got me. If you could figure that out, and figure out a solution for it, you could save the world.

I get annoyed when people argue about religion, because I think a person's relationship or lack of relationship with the Divine Creator is just about the most personal and sacred relationship a person can have, and thus not open for debate or criticism from others. I get especially annoyed, however, when different sects in the three major monotheistic faiths (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) argue, or when those three faiths argue among themselves.

They all come from the same Patriarch--Abraham. They are all spiritual descendants of him. The Creator, (regardless of what name He is called, it's all the same God) simply chose to say different things to different people at different times and in different places, at least as far as the little details go. On the big details, He was pretty clear: believe only in Me, and worship only Me; love and care for each other; don't do things to hurt each other, because it displeases Me and causes hurt and dissent among people; don't judge each other, because judgement is up to Me; etc...

I especially get frustrated when someone from one of the three major monotheistic faiths talks trash about the God of one of the others, like a Christian being disrespectful of Allah. He's the very same being in all three cases! For a Christian to refuse to honor Allah is really stupid, because Allah is simply what his or her own God is called in another faith. Some people are so intent on pushing their argument they don't realize that they are insulting the very same Creator they say they believe in and worship. It's absolutely insane.

Firstly-for all those who blame a lot of the fighting on this earth to religions-lets take an objective look at the most disastrous wars of the last century. First and Second world wars-fought between European countries & their colonies on issues of territory, resources and control. No religious wars here. Korea? Vietnam-nu uh-nope-these were regional wars unless you'd say that America was conducting a jihad on the asians :). Soooo.... Pnom Peh? Cambodia? nope either. You *COULD* bring up the Soviets in Afghanistan-oops-these were godless people (commies) killing muslims-yep. Ok-now to Iraq-1991 war-territorial, resources, helping arab allies-however you want to look at it... uhhh.... no religious reasons here either! OMG-all those people killed and no god being mentioned...
All I can say is Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Chechnya, Iraq (2003), Afghanistan (Current) the ongoing 'War on terror' are kind of religious/pseudo religion based wars-but I do not think the casualties match up even close to those mentioned earlier-let alone the motives being not only religious but also regional/territorial issues/power/oil/puppet governments, American Imperialism etc etc...

So-to the last commenter-no-you wont solve many world problems-you might solve more if you got atheists and the military industrialists to be a bit more god fearing and stop killing people like sheep.

Now for the 3 religions-by the way-Hinduism has more followers than judaism-as one poster pointed out-its all about One God and not insulting the same god in another language/culture-since its the same god. True-and the issue can stop there and all would be happy-except that some of the followers of these religions came up with man made ideas of god-like him having a son or that we should 'accept' him to enter paradise or that he had children or that he needs intercession with saintly people or a priestly class to get through to him.
So-if they all agreed on worshiping the One god alone without partners and taking him alone as the lawgiver-we'd not have 3 religions but 1 :)

arguments happen because liars and thieves have always existed in every religion.
false prophets have always existed, and the truth becomes a lie and those who believe the truth know the difference, yet when people who know the truth, are taught false prophecy, they actually only think they know the truth.
hence when 2 groups know the truth and they contradict each other, it becomes an argument and hatred and religious wars happen.

Of the "Big Three", only Christianity says that God walked the Earth, died for mankind's sins and no one who believes ever needs to attone for his sins again. That's a pretty big difference.

Sameer, the comforter Jesus spoke of was the Holy Spirit. Muhammed claimed that position for himself - another example of the twisted nature of him and his false religion.

Because various people for various reasons want to use religion to control other people, modifying religious doctrine to suit their needs.

God is not the author of confusion...that would be Satan. If we do not stay focused on God...we get further apart... The closer we stay to Jesus...the closer His "true church" (not a denomination) will be....until we are all in unity.

Jewish was found first (sons of Israel), and God send them many prophets and messengers to guide them to the right way, when they get away from God's way, God sent them his prophet Jesus Christ to get them from dark to light, and God gave his messenger Jesus Christ many miracles to proof him in face of Jewish as it was written in their holy books, but Jewish denied Jesus Christ, and accused him as a liar, but some of them believed in Jesus Christ, so they become the Christians, Jewish think that Christianity is a false religion, though Christians think that Judaism was a true religion, but not complete and Jesus came to complete the religion of Jewish.
Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Then sons of Israel got the last messenger sent to them, and the time came to the last prophet to humanity as all, as God informed prophet Moses, and prophet Jesus Christ, this is prophet Mohammad (the messenger of God to all people include Jewish, Christians, and all other peoples)
http://www.irf.net/irf/comparativereligion/middle/christianity/muhammad.htm
Moses said in Deu 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Deu 18:19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Deu 18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
Deu 18:21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
Deu 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Jesus Christ said in Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
Joh 15:27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
This is Mohammad, but when Mohammad sent from the God to all humanity, Jewish denied him, except some who believe in him and became Muslims, also some Christians denied him, and others believed in him and become Muslims, most Pagans who met Mohammad believed in him and became Muslims.
So, Jewish and Christians that denied Mohammad still at their religion, that developed and changed so, they differ from the original messages that sent from God, but Muslims think that old Jewish and Christians was Muslims according to definition of Muslim (The one who submit his will to the will of God) http://www.sultan.org
The main difference between the three religions is that:
• Muslims creed is: God is one who made everything and manage everything, and has no one is like him anyway, he was without start before any creation and will be after the end of all creations without end
• Christian creed is: God is three in one (The FATHER, The SON, The HOLY SPIRIT) everyone differ from the others but he is the same
• Jewish creed is : God will send the true Christ that he did not send till now, and the Christ will be a great Jewish king that will lead them to fight all people in the world and will get victory an face of all, so Jewish with the real Christ will judge the whole world.
So, the three religions will stay forever, but numbers of the followers of them is always changing in one direction, Jewish decrease, Christians decrease, Muslims Increase, this is known from the international statistics, but non of the three religion will vanish.
