Hi. I found out I am pregnant a couple of days ago and I'm delighted.

Back in June I thought I was pregnant because my periods were one week late, the day I went to take a test I got my period.(one week late) My next period also came one week late causing me again to think I was pregnant.
Then I just assumed that the period I just missed would also come at the 5 week interval, but never did. Therefore I took the test and it came back positive.

My question is, could I possibly further than 6weeks? due to the strange delay in my last 2 periods?

I usually have a normal 28 day cycle, could pregnancy have caused my cycle to change to 35 days?

please answers from people who've experienced this or know about it.

thanks!

First of all, I hope all goes well with you. I have had a similar case (period while I was pregnant), and it was due to a problem. You are right to want to make sure what is going on and determine the date correctly. You have to do 2 things:
1. Go have a vaginal ultrasound. They should be able to see the baby now and determine its size. Even if they say it is too early, it is important to check that it is in the uterus and that everything is fine.
2. Have a blood test (hCG). The values of the hormone should show how far along you are. Repeat the test after a few days to determine the rate at which teh hormone is increasing, and see if everything is normal.
3. Don't forget to also have blood tests for Hepatitis, toxoplasma, cmv, and so on.

Most women will stop having their periods when they become pregnant, however, rather than a period, some women will spot a little bit. This can happen when the egg attaches to the uterine wall. If your pregnancy test is positive, then you are probably just four to five weeks pregnant, depending on when you ovulated.
