the bible is contradictory, therefore the bible is not the words of God. Men wrote the bible, and therefore men say it is the words of God but when they write by inspiration, the source cannot be completely Known for sure

this question is about inspiration verses dictations. If God HIIMself dictated the words that are written why does it say that prophets wrote by inspiration?

Inspiration is NOT the perfect word of God and many many throughout history have been mislead by false inspiration.
Now reconsider the question.

We have to read further. When we come across two scriptures that seem contradictory, there will be a third that will tie them all together. That is why we are to "search" the scriptures. The third verse might be found in the other Testament altogether, written hundreds of years apart. This fact alone is proof that the Bible is authored by God and written through men as they were inspired by the Holy Ghost! The Bible was written over 1600 years, by people from all walks of life, at different points in their lives. It begins with the Spirit, ends with the Spirit, and speaks of our Creator throughout it's pages. It is inconceivable that this Book was written by a small group of men at one time and be in agreement on anything.

It is both inspired and the "Word of God." It is interesting that most evolutionist and atheist will go to the Book of Genesis. Yes, it does say that God created the heavens and the, but it also say in Gen. 1:1, "In the beginning..." Remember these words and think. A day for God is a thousand years to us. Also, the creation periods are filled with a certain amount of things happening in and around the earth. Also, Moses, the author of the first five books talked to God face to face and had Moses write the accounts of the period before he was born as it is written in the Book of Genesis. This is how we get the account of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and the Flood, the Abrahamic Covenant, and the ordeal of Joseph, plus other accounts. When we believe the Bible is the word of God, we are showing true faith that he truly exist.

"is the bible the word of God? or is it inspiration...?"
yes, to both.

"the bible is contradictory"
Example, please? Most "seeming" contradictions are, in fact, not contradictions at all. For the 2 or 3 *actual* contradicitons of which I am aware, there are very reasonable explanations.

"the source cannot be completely Known for sure"
This is true, from a logical standpoint. Belief in the bible as the inspired word of God *requires* faith. There is no logical or scientific way around that.

I believe.

P.S.

"what is salvation? being saved from hell?"
Not exactly. Salvation is being saved from death, or from the consequences of sin (of which death is one).

"the bible says all people are made clean, all sins are forgiven"
No, it doesn't. Verse taken *way* out of context.

"on one hand it says hell is eternal on the other is says death and hell are delivered Only the sons of perdition are cast out."
Huh? Not in my bible. "Hell" and death are hurled into the lake of fire, which is eternal. Whether they are destroyed in this fire or not is a matter of conjecture.

No matter how the Bible is analyzed, it is flawed. Strictly discussing only the New Testament, translators had complete discretion over content. If a story wasn’t complete, multiple stories were woven together to form one book. Pieces were moved around and put together like a puzzle. When a turn of a phrase seemed to even slightly disagree with the Church, it was removed in its entirety.
We now know that multiple scrolls of material, intended to be included as part of the Bible, were carefully hidden instead. This was necessary to avoid destruction of both the authors, and the information they were attempting to disclose.
Scripted Codices, have slowly been discovered. They’ve been carbon dated and authenticated by experts to prove they were written at the same time the Bible was written. Numerous experts believe these writings were intended to be part of the original Bible. However, it is also true to say that these compositions are still the cause of great debate.
The New Testament was written two centuries after The Christ was crucified. Before the Bible was let loose to commoners, these powerful people had just simply raped it.
When one controls the religion of a people, they then control those people. This is why it was so important to make sure the Bible only told the stories approved of by the King and his Church. It also explains the hiding of certain texts. If anything written even smacks of freedom for the common man, it must be destroyed. For if it was found that the King was not god, the King could loose his ability to control his kingdom. As the translators were loyal to the King, the Bible was edited very carefully indeed.
Speaking only of the New Testament, the Bible remains one of the very few best set of life instructions known to man. There is only one, most important law. It is: To love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your soul, and to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. If this Law is followed to the letter, it isn’t possible to break even one of the old Ten Commandments.
When Jesus was born, all prophecies from the Old Testament were fulfilled. The Old Testament passed away with the first coming of the Christ. The Ten Commandments were no longer relevant. This Commandment was the only one needed in order to not sin, and live as God wants man to live. The more we live as God wants, the more we truly are in God's image.
Blessed Be

The Bible is the Word of God. But what we have today is a translation of the Word of God. So therefore there are errors and a lot of mistranslations.

God never said He inspired the translations. Men wrote the Bible but they were inspired by the God. You say the source cannot be completely known for sure. How do you know that for sure ?

Moses gave the people god's 10 commandments. Scribes wrote about all sorts of things and in doing so, their versions conflict. The Bible is referred to as the living word of God.
The many versions of the Bible have been changed over and over - if you read The Sermon on the Mount where Jesus is teaching the people how they can come to the Father, I think this is the most important part of how to live in anytime, today or the future. It is timeless and I believe inspired by God's love for his children. Blessed be.

Saved BY grace, saved FROM hell, saved UNTO good works. Salvation has more than one side. I believe the Bible is inspiration, not dictation, and therefore there are some inconsistencies that I would be stupid to pretend didn't exist. However, I believe that the basics thread is consistent across time and place, for many centuries, and that lends validity.

Everyone I have seen claim the Bible is contradictory has no specific examples of a contradiction but well they heard from a friend that there are contradictions. If you know of a contradiction be specific, if not you are just another tongue wagging robot repeating heresay that is so inaccurate that it is laughable. Post a supposed contradiction and there are many here that would gladly clear it up for you, then your 5 point cost for asking would be worth something. As it is you wasted 5 and did not get what you really have at the root of the issue.

From what I have learned, the bible is Gods word written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of truth (2 Peter 1-20&21:Knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man,but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit) I hope this is of help to you.

I hate when you idiots say the bible is contradictory without any evidence of where you are mistaken.
The sun is filled with ice and gives no warmth at all. The moon is made of cheese. Just make it up as you go.
There are no contradictions in the bible. Next time show an example so I can prove you wrong then maybe you will see the truth. Otherwise just shut up.
