I have the same problem all the time as a side effect from the medicine that I am on. Tell your friend to take some "Senakot S" it is a natural laxative + Stool softener, Also Fiber One cereal on a daily basis, Also tell her to drink lots of water. For an instant fix she could always try an enema or suppository. If the problem persists, tell her to contact her doctor. There may be a blockage or something else wrong.

Taking a laxative will sort the problem eventually but generally not instantly. She needs to exercise and drink plenty but should not to eat until after she has had a bowel movement and then eat only fruit as her first meal.

Encourage her to eat a lot of green and leafy vegetables and fruits. Apples are very good for onstipation and it's also good for the heart. She should eat a high fiber diet. as this eases constipation. Also, she should drink a lot of water; at least 8 glasses every day.

She needs to improve her diet. More fruit and vegies and bread, cereals and muesli and pasta, potatoes and nuts and also plenty of water in between meals.
Red meat is the worst and eggs are no good either. Fish is better than chicken.
