It would be classed as abnormal. But she has to see a doctor to get it checked out, just in case. I'm 35 and from the age of 13 I had a period once a week! My doctor put me on to the depo-provera contraception injection. This stopped my periods altogether which was fab, but it does have its drawbacks.

This kind of bleeding that she is having is called breakthrough bleeding which can act a lot like a period. Yes, she should see her doctor to have the situation evaluated further. One possible reason for this bleeding is that she could have an infection going on.

If she is being honest with you about this, then she probably should see a Dr. This is not "normal". She may need to get on the pill in order to regulate her periods. That is usually what they will do for this if there is no clear reason why it is happening.

Irregular periods aren't uncommon but to be sure that nothing serious is wrong, she should go see her GP and get professional advice.

well, yeah, its normal if she's just begun having her period, but it should stablize after a year or so....if she keeps having irregular periods then, she should see the doctor.
