I've been wanting to practice this type of kung fu, (ever since reading how many people die in a year by Serial killers) So I wanted some defense and since i've heard it can only be learned in some other country, I want to learn online but everytime I look for the moves, exercises and techniques, I just find all the history. Care to suggest a website?

As another poster already mentioned, check youtube.

If you want to learn self defense check around your local area for a reasonably priced school. It's really hard to learn online because you need a partner, training equipment (bag, pads, weights, mats) and someone who knows the techniques and strategies of the system. Usually a good school has all these things.

If you really want, I'm sure there are Southern Praying Mantis instructional DVD's on the market some where. I would recommend using DVD's and books as reference material only though.

It's best you find a qualified instructor. Still, there are some clips on YouTube of people demonstrating southern mantis, but I don't know of any online instruction.

SPM is a sort of arts which you basically must be fortunate to be in close proximity to. i replaced into training with a student of Mark Foon interior the suburbs of Philly for somewhat yet i replaced into too busy to be waiting to proceed. additionally in Philly is grasp Louie Jackman - between the unique scholars of Jook Lum Grand grasp Lam Sang. he's rather previous and does not instruct everybody. do no longer shrink your self to Chu Gar basically as this is even harder to locate. in case you like SPM, you will like all of the different Hakka Martial Arts like Bak Mei and Southern Dragon - the two additionally complicated to locate. stable success. Edit: BTW - i admire the Hakka Arts. they're with reference to the Fukien Arts and the Okinawan Arts have beginning place in the two.
