Only been caught once. Many years ago. Had a small van used for work and as a car. Van version of the old Ford prefect car. In those days maximum speed for all commercial vehicles was 40 mph. I was not chased but a police car pulled up behind me at a junction and I ha a lecture.. As I was miles from home I think the policeman thought it would be more trouble than it was worth to book me , so I got away with a warning.. I didn't do over 50 at any time.. Not sure that the old van could go much faster than that... I admit I have driven much faster since but(touch wood) not been caught... Even on cameras.

Two instances where I was caught. the first was on Christmas morning, and I was working driving a newspaper truck back in the early 1980's. I was driving along I-395 out of Washington DC through Arlington VA, about 2 miles South of the Pentagon. An Arlington city police officer driving a marked Chrysler K-car (how funny is that) pulled me over for doing 89 in a 55 zone... I was in a hurry to get off work and head home to be with the family... he actually let me go because it was Christmas and I was driving a commercial vehicle... I learned a lot from that stop, and I have been almost free of violations if not for the exception of being pulled over in South Carolina on I-20, just West of I-95. The speed limit was 65 where I was and the cop clocked me at 67... got a ticket for that one... something about the state being an absolute speed state... they can and will ticket you for going 1 mph over !!! I learned you shouldn't always trust your speedometer and cruise control !!!

Had a few when I was a teenager. The worst one was for 127 in a 55 crossing the I-430 river bridge in Arkansas. I went to jail. Most tickets can be dismissed if you get a traffic lawyer. the cost of a ticket for my guy here in Arlington, TX is 45.00. None have been prosecuted in 4 years. AS far as the chase I never had one let me go, but I did lose one when I was 17 in NLR, AR the road had several splits, and it was a moonless night. I lost him. It was fun.

I guess your from the good ol' US of A..... over here in the UK the speed limit is 70mph on motorways 3 or 4 lanes (usually 3 lanes (your freeways ?) a piece was in the national newspapers just this week, bloke in a Porsche caught doing 172mph banded straight away for a year i think.Normally on motorways or also on what we call dual carrigeways (as the name suggests, two lane freeways) limit is still 70mph, a traffic policeman won't even bother much below 100mph unless theres heavy traffic or your driving dangerously, lane swerving tailgatting.....even on our fairly poor A roads the limit is 60mph and they usually allow you 10% plus 5mph above any speed limit over here. One exception is what we call Gatso cameras, fixed speed cameras,no real get outs most of the time !!!...

I've had a few speeding tickets from speed cameras and a few months ago i got pulled over at heathrow by a police van with 3 coppers in it as they didn't have a camera on board they could only give me a verbal warning and a lecture, but my passenger said i undertook them doing 75 in a 40, i was surprised as i didn't see a sodding great police van and i also spot coppers even unmarked cars.

I was caught doing 78 in a 45mph zone. The cop was going the opposite direction and it was dark so I didn't see him. All the sudden I see a car hit the brakes in my rear view mirror and the flashing blue and red lights. The cops weren't easy on me either, probably because I'm only 17 and I had 3 of my friends in the car with me...and I was driving a BMW which is kind of a cop magnet. Anyway, they suspended my license for 4 months and I wanted to kick myself in the face afterward.

I got stopped on the way to work one morning, along with dozens of other normal people. The policeman said that they were clamping down because of complaints in this area. I said I know, because I live here and the real culprits drive up and down at midnight doing 70 - 80, it's not us commuters travelling at 38 mph that should be targeted. Didn't get me off though, 3 points and thirty quid.

I was pulled over at 172 in a 55 MPH zone.
I stupidly pulled over when the cop waved at me from the side of the road. He actually asked me why I pulled over since he NEVER would have caught me in his car.
I did figure that he would have used his radio to call for back up.
We talked for quite a while about the car I was driving (a barely legal musclecar from the 70's) and drove away.
He NEVER gave me a ticket.
