I live and work in Kuwait where booze is banned, nay, outlawed! I know people brew their own beer and 'siddiqui' (basic spirit) and wine. As we only have access to grape juice (that you buy in bottles at the mall), basic yeast and sugar, I have still to come across a really great method of making your own wine.

Suggestions please .....

Here are some links I found on the internet with recipes:

http://ingeb.org/junk/wine.html
http://www.wineintro.com/making
http://www.catalogs.com/info/wine-cigar/how-to-make-wine.html

Also check youtube.com and search for a free video on the subject. I looked and there are videos. Just be careful because you can get a nice headache from produceing cheap wine. If you go a step further, after you have created the wine, distill it and produce a brandy type of liquor. Check the internet on how to make spirits for detailed instructions.

Good luck.

First get all your fermenting bins, demijons, syphons etc clean and sterile using sodium metabisulphate and rinse alot.

You might find grape juice has additives to stop it fermenting so check the ingredients. Also you'll find that grape juice does not make great wine so you may want to buy other fruit, apricots can make a very nice dry wine with white grape juice. Its best to wash then freeze roughly chopped fruit and just put it in the fermenting bin or demijon with the grape juice. Add the yeast, use a proper wine making yeast or at least a high alcohol tolerance beer yeast - they are both called sacchromyses cervasai (Not sure of spelling there). After a week of lots of foamy fermentation and it has dies down, tranfer to demijons with fermentation locks and leave for a few weeks, say 6-10 then bottle, making sure bottles and corks are sterile.

Then send me a sample to test.

Good luck

You can make home made wine from anything. Doesn't have to be grape juice. You can make it from tinned fruit, rice, flowers, tea, coffee, dried fruit, . All you need is something for the flavour, water, sugar and yeast, and the equipment...In UK we use carboys with airlocks and filters , specialist wine yeasts etc, depends whether you can get this sort of gear.. As regards recipes and method there are lots of books on the subject,,,see Amazon. I have made some lovely wines out of quite ordinary materials,, Even things like fruit juice or jelly..

I know I made wine whilst in hospital (about 1980)
but I can't remember the process (some help).

But I do know you can make it from just about anything
(I went collecting dandylions to make wine) and made
some from jam (a bit sickly) and I believe you can
make some fairly "poky" wine from potatoes.

I remember I had a book on the subject and as such,
get a good book!

Get a job elsewhere if you need alcohol that badly.

Or wave goodbye to your hand when you get caught. Pillock!
