I just always liked them.
I just always assumed that I would have them some day.
It's never a snap decision to get a new one, I get an idea, and it evolves into my next tattoo.

i wanted a tattoo since i was very young, 12 or so. on my 18th birthday i got my very first tattoo... not something original or creative. a few months later i got another tattoo which was equally generic and awful and a few months later i got my first tattoo covered up!!!! all of that was done before my 19th birthday. the first tattoo i thought about getting for probably about 6 months. the second... about an hour (i know... dumb) and the third i walked in and picked it off the wall (again... dumb)
i just last year started getting tattooed again. my first move was to cover up my horrid psychadelic mushroom (2nd tattoo). my coverup which is a koi with lotus flowers i thought about getting for four years before i actually got it. the next tattoo i got last year was a memorial tattoo of a skull that i had been thinking about getting for three years and the third tattoo i got last year is a family related tattoo that i thought about for 6 months before getting, i would have waited longer but i KNEW the moment i thought of it that it was something i had to get and would never regret because it is directly related to my family and family lasts a lifetime. i did do a lot of research on it and made sure that all aspects of it were right and the art was true to it's roots.
there are tattoos that i am still planning on getting but i feel like it'll probably be a little while. because i had so much tattoo work done this year and last i just need to take a break and... save some money and stuff.
i love art and am a collector and tattoos are one of my favorite types of art!

I think most of the people that get a tattoo in the spur of the moment end up regretting it and want to get it removed. I have thought about it alot and came to a conclusion after alot of thinking and planning of what tattoo i want. I think its better to plan it that way you can find exactly what you want instead of settling for something that later on you won't want.

I^ve always wanted one, but didn^t get my first till I was in my 50^s. I looked for more than a year for just what I wanted. A custom tattoo. The only tattoo on me that is everyday is the one on my left shoulder about { only the good die young, i had that put there after my 23 year-old neice died in a car accident, the rest of my tattoos are my designs, custom designs, I don^t like wearing someone elses tattoos

That year I got my tattoo was when I was feeling spontaneous and free. That year was one of the best times in my life. Basically, I thought it was fun thing to do and wanted something to symbolize my love of the ocean. That's what I got. I had it tattooed on my lower back and I did it with my friend there for moral support. I had it done in 2000 and didn't regret it ever since. I think tattoos are beautiful if done tastefully and artistic but of course it's up to the person who wants to have one. Think long and hard of what you want to get because you don't want to regret it 5, 10, or even 30 years later.

i though about my first tattoo for 2 yrs. i wanted to make sure it was something i really wanted. once i told the artist what i wanted and he drew it exactly how i pictured it in my mind i knew it was time for me to get what i wanted. all my tattoos express some kind of pain i been through but are lovely to the eye :-) all can be covered up, which i put alot of thought into also. the others ones mean alot to me also but they were spur of the moment (didn't think about the design for too long). once u have one its kind of addictive and u want another.

I didn't really have to think about it, but it wasn't spur of the moment, either. My ink tells a story and every time I see it, I'm reminded of the time in my life it represents. The good and the bad, all the emotions, and everything else that goes along with a reminder of such a vivid memory.
I knew exactly what I wanted immediately, but it took some time to find exactly the right image. Bottom line answer is that I didn't hesitate to know that I was getting a tattoo, but it took me a long time to find exactly what I wanted.

I think it was when i first set eyes on a symbol in a school book when i was 13,(im 19 now) its a Sikh symbol that means
'Everyone Is Equal'
I had been writing it everywhere and i guess was fed up of having to write it before i could see it. i had it done a week after my 18th on my left rist. now when ever i feel that society is unfair to people (eg. due to colour, religon exxxxx) i just look at my rist and remember that everyone is equal and should be treated that way.
Ive got 2 more tattoos on my mind that ive been thinking bout for just as long as my first....... i think im getting close to the time when i cant wait anymore and run to the tattoo shop!!!! lol
no pain.....no............ f*** it get another tattoo!!:)

When I was 6, my mom worked with a woman who had a tattoo of a rose on her ankle, and it always showed through he pantyhose. I remember being fascinated by it! It used to drive my mom insane, but from then on I knew I wanted a tattoo. I got my first one on my 18th birthday, and my second a couple of months after that. I haven't gotten any lately, but that is only because I've been busy having babies... I have plenty in the works though!!
