About 10 years ago i got a third degree burn on my leg about the size of my fist. It healed over quite nicely but left behind a nice big scar. I was wondering if it is possible to tattoo over such a large area of scarring, or if it would distort the work too much?

i am aware that this is possible but you MUST go and get an oppinion from the tattoo artists you have chosen to be safe

dont let people get your hopes up and then be dissapointed when you get there because no one on here has seen how bad the scar is there for without seeing it we cant possibly say either way

good luck i hope it turns out ok

It depends on the scar, as I understand it. It's been a while so the scar is now 'white' as opposed to 'red', so at least it's an option. It probably depends at least a little on the kind of work you get and what the artist feels comfortable with. I'd say talk to a few and see what they say.

Sorry I can't give you a more specific answer, but it varies a bit from artist to artist.

Well I know that my artist wouldn't tattoo over my scar, but it was a scar from a stabbing so I'm not sure if the burn scar would be different. I wouldn't think that you could get it done though.

I dont recommend it I got a tatooe of roses over a scar when the scar was only a bunch of cuts and my tat looks all blurry and scarred up Besides I dont know if they will do it over a burn scar

is the scar smooth or is it bumpy and uneven? many people have tattoos over their scars but it is more difficult to tattoo scar tissue and not all artists are talented enough to do it so you should be sure that you research and find someone who has done scar tattoos before. ask to see a portfolio and make sure that you are blown away by whatever they show you. if you're not... move on to someone better.

you should go to a tatoo artist and talk to them about it. some wont tatoo over scars because it takes to much time to heal but some dont think it matters so just research it some

I would do it your skin is already healed so it shouldnt screw up your tat... but you can call any tattoo shop and tell them your sittuation no one will give you a better answer but a tattoo artist.
