I'm painting my bedroom this week... I picked a nice light green color.

My bedroom is next to the attic...so part of the ceiling is slanted. The slant starts about 1/4 of the way across the ceiling, and goes down to about...3/4 of the way of the back wall.

If that makes sense? I'm not sure that it does. It could to someone, I hope.

Anyway, that slant, along with the rest of my ceiling, has always been white.

I'm wondering if it would be wise to paint the slant the same green color as the rest of my walls. I considered making it an accent wall, but I'm not interested in that.

So your opinions, based on my description...

Paint it green? Or stick with the white?

In general, without actually seeing the room, I would say that by painting it all green the room will appear bigger and the ceiling will appear higher. If you use white it may chop up the room and make the ceiling look lower. Maybe you could paint the slanted ceiling a much lighter shade of the same green you used on the walls. Just a thought.

I agree with mab5096 on this one. If you paint it all the same color (especially since you said it was a light color) it should make the room look larger and more uniform. It won't look as choppy. If you want to accent the slanted wall, a lighter shade of the green you are using would look real nice. perhaps just mix the paint with a white to be sure the color doesn't clash.

Leave it white. Painting it will make the room look smaller and white/light ceilings brighten your room. If it needs painted, get white or light paint. Make sure it's ceiling paint because it is more reflective than regular wall paint.

Port City Paints makes "slanted ceiling" paint, this is special paint just for slanted surfaces, it has special ingredients(developed by NASA) that help it to defy gravity and not run/drip.

Sky blue is awesome on a ceiling. I did it on my slanted master bath.

stick with the white, it is considered part of the ceiling. If you paint it, the room will look smaller and darker.
