Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy. Brisk walking is great for burning body fats.

It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.

Details such as my experience, meals, snacks, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog

I'd ask the question, do you drink soda? I know this sounds like an odd thing, but soda can account for a LOT of weight gain. I cut soda out of my diet entirely almost a year and a half ago, and I haven't looked back. It's been so much easier to keep the weight I recently lost off by simply doing that.
Aside from that, exercise your willpower at the store. Don't buy the stuff you know will tempt you in the fridge later.
I know this is over-said, but it bears repeating: the key to keeping weight off is maintaining your exercise routine even after you've reached your target weight. Sure you can eat a little more, but don't exercise less.

Just take it slow and take your time. There's no rush. Since it's only one dress size, and not 2 or more... Just take it easy. Remember to each a balance of veggies, fruits, protein and carbs. I say, equal amounts of all types, and forget about the triangle. When I was dieting, i drank green and white (also oolong) tea which helped speed up my metabolism. I also had slimfast which was great for nutrition boosts. Buy the powder, it's less expensive and you can just mix it into your milk for every meal.
Getting into the rhythm of exercise is hard, but if you just remember your goal you should be able to stick to it. When you feel like giving up ask yourself, "why am I doing this? To look and feel better!" and get back on track. Get your friends into it too just for support! It always helps to have an excercising buddy or two.

I guess you have the answer in your question:

1. work out and don't be lazy.
2. Don't let your emotional status affect the way you eat and exercise.

You have to figure out why you stop when you achieve your goals. Until you figure out what's going on in your head, you won't keep to your goals. Try joining a weight watchers group -- they'll help you figure it out.
