Purples and black since it is fall you do not want to wear a bright pink dress. Any darker colors.

September is usually HOT in Chicago. But the evenings are chilly! Wear a summer dress (appropriate for a wedding). Black, Dark Blue, Maroon, or Emerald are nice colors. Bring a pantsuit and cami (perferably in non wrinkle fabric) for later in the evening should it be a patio reception or on a boat.

My cousin had his on the Chicago Princess on the Chicago River in September. The cool air did feel good after dancing hard though! However, the walk to the parking garage was COLD!!!!!!

Since September is technically still the summer, I think you would get away with wearing basically whatever you want. Fall doesn't start until the end of September. I feel like most fashion rules go with the month of September. Have fun!

Autumn begins around September 23. Find out what the main wedding colors will be. Here's a great link with wonderful ideas.

The weather in Chicago on Sept. 8th will probably have a daytime high in the upper 70's and evenings about 10 degrees cooler.
Whatever you wear, don't wear any shade of white (that is strictly the Bride's color).

I used to live in Chicago, and I went to a wedding in September once-take a Pashima to wrap yourself at night-sometimes it´s chilly in Sept.

Here is a Nordstrom´s website-any dress from them would be appropriate.

September weddings are fall weddings.

If it is a day time wedding, wear color but nothing too flashy or too close to the color the bridesmaids will be wearing.

If the wedding is in the late afternoon or evening, with an evening reception, you can wear black or navy, and even go a little strapy/sexy.

Probably fall colors. Just saw in style magazine where JLo wore a gold dress to a wedding , it was beautiful. Metallics are in so if you can incorporate that with simplicity it would be beautiful.

September is tricky here! I would make sure the dress is sleeveless but you have a comfortable wrap in case it is cool out. Earth tones are in and a "little black dress" is never wrong. Have fun!

Mauve is a color that you can wear year round. It is very appealing it accessories are coordinately correctly. (silver or pewter jewelry?

Also, platinum /grays are seasonally appropriate.

Check out the latest looks at Spiegel.com you can't go wrong there!
