who did Eddie [the main character in the book] meet in heaven? how did they affect his life? what is the moral?

The people he met ranged from an old war buddy to sideshow freak, his wife, and a small burn-victim girl to a woman he never met.
The people's affect on Eddie's life were peripheral from the standpoint of Eddie on earth...but in Heaven he is getting a glimpse of the big picture and the enormous effect these seemingly insignificant characters played in his life.
I suggest you watch the movie...it's very good. The moral of the story may mean different things to different people.
