Is there anything written about them in bible, coran, etc.? Who are they supposed to have sex with? Man? Woman? Are they excepted, condemned or forgotten? If two hermaphrodites that both appear male or female were lovers, would they be lumped in with gays and be condemned for their "choice"?

This is a serious question. Are they not part of god's plan? They're human just like the rest of us.

Sorry, the correct term is apparently intersexuals, not hermaphrodites.

I think many of the "religious groups" don't even like to acknowledge it because the implications are too complicated to honestly deal with for them. Issues such as these are one reason why I do not believe in judging other people.

I avoided this question about a month ago (Props to Buttered Toast!) because I really didn't know the answer. I've read the entire Bible several times and I have never found a reference to one. I know that if there was a mention of a hermaphrodite in the Bible the gay community would have latched to it and it would be everywhere.

I've been confronted with this a few times without an answer... I'll be asking pastor about it tomorrow morning.

From the point of view of someone who has studied history, I would say that the reason that many people oppose Wicca and other Pagan religions is because many of the historical Pagan religions were competition for and resistant to the spread of Christianity. Christianity would not have spread as effectively as it did if it had not had government backing. It was only in collaboration with the government that the Christian church was able to force conversions on many different groups. This state-sponsored religion then served to prop up the government. NOW, in the present era, the systemized prejudices from this historical context have become a part of the religious context that produced the King James translation of the Bible and then by extension the more "conservative" or "traditional" Protestant denominations in the United States. Wiccans and Reconstructionist Pagans realize that we are members of minority religions. This is actually more likely to produce an attitude of understanding in that most of the adult members of these religions were originally from a differing religious background

Interesting question. Consider the Ethiopian eunuch from Acts chapter 8. Here was a man who left Ethiopia somebody, but when he got to Jerusalem he was nobody. The Jewish officials would have been quick to point out to him that he could not become Jewish because he could not be circumcised. In other words, God doesn't allow people like you into His presence. But, here is good news, God accepts all repentant sinners. Physical aberrations ultimately caused by sin in one way or another don't prohibit anyone from turning to Christ in faith and repentance. The key here is faith (trust) that leads to repentance (change). Sexual copulation does not a human being make. If one is a hermaphrodite, it does not excuse him/her from glorifying God with his/her body. If the physical attribute has rendered the possessor unable to engage in sexual intercourse according to biblical standards, it is no excuse for doing one's own thing. Fair? No more so, and no less so, than telling a young, healthy male that he is not free to copulate with as many females as are willing to allow him to.

Some attempt to equate transsexual, transgendered, including shemale, hermaphrodite, intersexed with LGBT exclusively, esp. gay, yet given diverse and/or unique nature of each, such endure incorrect and unfair.

Has nothing to do with religion. A person's aspiration towards another remain typically more akin to their own perception of self, what makes them feel comfortable, and what their heart/mind determines as natural attraction.

I suppose you would have to go with your conscience. Usually now with DNA, there is a predominant sex. I will probably be bumped for using the S word! LOL

Usually a hermaphrodite would have one or the other part(s) removed to be either male or female. And also, a hermaphrodite child is usually caused when family members have sex with each other; like cousins, or distant relations. (There is a very famous actress who was born a hermaphrodite.)
