yes, within restrictions.. depends on your Job specialty and whether or not a billet is available on a Navy Base or Ship. Not every MOS is found on Naval installations.

I work as a civilian for the Marines here in Quantico, VA. Marines are at navy bases, just like how marines are at army bases like Arberdeen Proving Grounds in MD. The real question is: Why do you think these places suck? Miramar, Beaufort Air Station are beautiful places to be stationed at. Plus, any of these places are better than the one in Al Asad Iraq.

Yes and vice versa. Marines are sometimes stationed on naval ships. Since they are both in the same branch they often have this happen. Have a cousin in the marines and he was stationed at a naval base for two years.

You already answered your own question. The Marines and Navy are separate fighting forces under different commands, but essentially part of the U.S. Navy Dept.

Yes they can. I tried to get orders to a Marine base in Beaufort last year but had to pick something else on the west coast. From what I have seen it is mostly in the Aviation community

That is how the marines started, they were there to protect the navy. Of course they can be stationed on a naval base. I do wonder how you can request it but times change.

well, seeing as the Marine Corps IS a department of the Navy, then, the answer is yes.

Marines can also be stationed on Navy Ships, didn't you know what you were joining?

I didn't know the Marines would let you choose, boy things are going to hell in a hand basket. Most likely you will go were they tell you. Anything is possible, like if you got assigned to gaurd the munitions depot.

That depends on your mos. I am artillery so I cant. Maybe if you were comm or motor T you could. We don't have large detachments on Navel bases like we use to years ago.
