You're driving through the desert. Towns, and interchanges are illuminated but mostly the open desert does not have street lights. It's a very well traveled road so you won't have any problems.

It is NOT safe!!! The 15 threw that way is one of the most dangerous stretches of high ways. I live in Vegas & have family in LA & one trip on my way home there was 6 car recks!!! & 2 of them the cars had flipped over!! There are a lot of cops that drive that also. Just do the speed limit. Just about everyone speeds & that is how a lot of the car recks happen. If you are driving by yourself, you should drive a day time. But with someone than you'd be OK, because it is cooler.

It isn't lit all the way, mainly through towns. There are a lot of big convenient stores open 24 hours and they are all lit. Usually around the exits, too.

A hell of a lot brighter than driving from Kona to Hilo...Roads are as lit as can be. There will be hundreds of cars going the same route all around you all night..Gas up before you leave and there won't be any problems.

like what someone said mostly through gas stations/convenience stores and cities/towns.
it's a desert drive so it'll be dark and it'll be safer JUST to stick to speed limit which will vary.

No, that's like 300+ miles. It gets very dark in the desert.
But if your headlights work, and you don't have visions problems it should be ok.
