Seals are the elite of the elite. They only accept the VERY best candidates, not muscleheads that can't think for themselves.

People in combat do die, but when the very best go in, they rarely get into something they haven't planned, or trained for.

Worry about him, it's your duty, but his chances of returning alive are far better than a Marine or Army infantryman in combat.

As far as I know, there is no SEAL Team 10. Last I heard, there were only 8 teams with 7 in full rotation the eighth being used for counter-terrorism. I used to hang out at NAB Coronado all the time when stationed in San Diego. Gator Gardens was awesome. Quit getting your information from reading science-fiction books. You want some good reading about SEALs, read the Rogue Warrior series by a real Navy SEAL Capt. Richard Marcinko.

That question in itself is silly. The Seals, like the SAS, Rangers, Green Berets, are a group of highly trained men that are trained literally to infiltrate, kill quietly, disrupt the enemy and leave. They dont ness. have a higher death rate than the other types of branches or services, it depends greatly on the mission at hand.

Your question can be compared to does the Army lose more soldiers than the Marines?

The answer to that question is we don't know. Their deaths aren't usually released until long after it happens. The family is notified immediately but not the public. Your friend will be receiving the best training in the world and that will keep him safe. I have a cousin in the marines, a uncle in the army rangers and a friend like yours in the SEALs. They are a tough, self-reliant bunch who look out for each other. Your friend should be fine. Mine is. And tell your friend thank you from me for serving.

most likely no, the navy seals are a stealthy SPECOPS unit

they are trained above and beyond and disicplined past their limit.

although war is hell, a navy seal's death isnt as common as any other soldier

but...

we also dont know much because they work special missions and often hide it from the public

As a "navy seal" myself I can tell you that we rarely die if at all. When we are in basic training we are given special underware that we put on and never take off, no matter what. Yes it makes it difficult to go to the bathroom at times, but for the protection we get from it, its well worth it. Even though my wife left me as soon as I got out of the navy, and girls find my odor offensive, I wouldnt trade my "special underware" for anything else in the whole wide world.. God bless you.

It is hard to say. Is he a seal yet? It isn't as easy as just saying I am joining to be a seal.
If so he will be put in the line of danger. That is his job.
