Heaven is not a reward but many books say it is. It is a place, like a dimension. Where you go or what dimension you go to depends on your acquired frequency. That is done by building up treasures in Heaven, as Jesus said. By what you do and what you learn in this life, will determine where you go. It is not a punishment or a reward. It is the Law of attraction. When you pass over, you attract to you the place that the frequency is the same. Your energy field is like a signature.

It is hard to say without knowing what your definition of reward is. If you are implying that God "gives" us Heaven because of our works or something we do, then no. We, as believers, are promised a home in Heaven from the time our names were written in the book of life. We are given this before we do anything good or bad. Heaven is a gift of God to His people. We receive rewards at the judgment seat of Christ for what we do in service for Him.

Heaven is a gift from God to those whose sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ.
Nobody deserves to go to heaven, but there will be different rewards handed out to those who make it to heaven for their service to the Lord while in this life.

Heaven is closer than you think. Heaven is part of the reward not only in this life, but the life that follows.

I suppose I don't really focus on Heaven being the reward, but living in the presence of God. I also look forward to being reunited with family, pets and past friends too.

Life in the spiritual realm after this life is the next stage of our existence. Just as our experience and ability to function competently and gracefully in high school is contingent upon our efforts to develop our capacities and what we learned in middle school, our experience in the spiritual realm is contingent upon the spiritual capacities and virtues we develop in this physical life. As it is the spiritual realm, the negative does not exist there. As only the positive exists there, it is essential that we develop those positive qualities and attributes that enable us to "soar" in the spiritual realm. Otherwise, we will be functioning at the same capacity, say, as a stone functions in this world compared to a human. This has profound implications for our lives here in relation to that unlimited spiritual realm.

Pooh-poohing our spiritual existence is tantamount to the embryo while in the womb of the mother pooh-poohing existence in the world of the mother.

Heaven is a place of eternal unity with God, as opposed to Hell, which is eternal separation from God. It's not really a "reward," but if you believe in Jesus as Savior, you'll go there when you die, so you can spend eternity with God.
