They say that they are all about science, but there's no scientific proof that God does not exist!
They should just be honest and say they just don't know. At least they wouldn't lie about their beliefs being science-based.
All honest Atheists should admit to being Agnostic.

morelions,
Then that's faith in the belief that you are right. You DON'T know, admit it. And I didn't say the Christian God. So you made that up too.

Yes I can accept the fact that someone has a different take on things. But it better make sense or people like me will call them on it. And Atheism doesn't make any sense IF the claim of scientific proof is involved.

OK, let us just get a solid definition from you first of all about what you mean by the word "God."
Every time somebody has offered a definition, that God has been proven to be false immediately.
The result is that we have All of the religious types running around yapping about the great Boojum God which can not be defined.
You people can not even agree between yourselves about what your God is and when you try it only results in even more meaningless words being substituted. (or another bloody religious war)
So not only do you have no evidence, you have no argument because you don't even know what this "God" you talk about is.
---------------
All honest agnostics are atheists and I strongly suggest people review what the agnostic argument actually is.
All atheism means is a lack of belief.
Agnostic is actually a reasoned argument about why you should not believe.

There is no scientific proof that Santa Claus does not exist either. Why don't Santa Claus non-believers use their minds, be honest, and acknowledge that he might exist as well?
"The idea of an omnipotent God who creates a creature capable of reason, then throws an eternal hissy fit when that creature doesn't spend all his time telling God how wonderful He is... Well it seems like rather insecure behavior for an all powerful, all loving being."

I am an atheist. I can't prove that there is no god. But I believe that there is no god.
To my way of looking at things, gods are magical beings. The Bible for example has, snakes that talk, invisible beings, flying beings, demons, rods that turn into serpents, rain that doesn't stop for over a month, people that raise up from the dead, and special people who can heal the illnesses of others if they choose to do so. In order to believe in some god, you must accept that these kinds of magical things actually happen in real life. I've lived a long time now, and never saw one magical thing happen. I don't believe magic happens... ever.

I'm not Atheist, but I think you are generalizing when you ask why they don't use their minds. There may be no scientific proof that God doesn't exist. But is there scientific proof that he does? I think he does because I see him in a child's birth, lightning, a sunset, etc...but I don't think that is scientific proof that he exists.
Are you using your mind or are you just following what someone tells you to believe? Think about it, have you really questioned the fact, and done your own research? Or have you let others tell you how and what you should believe?

Of course they don't know if there is a god. Then again neither do you or anyone else. For those who believe it's called faith and they don't need proof. For those who don't believe it's also called faith, albeit with a different twist. And they don't need proof either. One of the beautiful things about this world is that we are free to choose what we believe without having to justify and explain it to anyone who feels differently.

Well neither is there any proof that God does exist. And if there's no proof of either, it's only logical to assume that he does not exist until proven (with actual evidence) wrong. And besides, it's not all science. A good deal of common sense and logic is used too, you know.

I really think that these questions need to be avoided as they attack a religion and they are trying to discredit a belief because of a few bad influences on that religion. I am a christian and we have no right to attack anyone because of their beliefs. We can tell them what we know to be the truth, but we can't attack them because of a difference. That's not fair we need to be loving and fair.
Religion is just a word that we use to describe beliefs or some sort of tradition. Religion is a hard word to define. I took a class on world religions and even the Atheist that was teaching the class didn't know what to explain it as. But thanks for the correction. And sorry to anyone i might have offended.

you cannot prove that something does NOT exist, so why bother stating that?
i am atheist, and i do not agree with what you said! i wouldnt ever admit to being agnostic. because I believe that there is no way there can be a god. its my opinion.
so why dont YOU use YOUR mind. your reasons seem, at first, reasonable, but thinking beyond that, they are totally wrong. and who said we are liars for saying our beliefs are science based? our science backed information, isnt disproving a god. its proving that the world was created differently than a god making it, its proving evolution, where we really come from, and its proving more.
you dont understand :/

It works both ways, you don't have any evidence that the universe was in fact created by this god of yours.
Why don't all Christians just label themselves agnostic?
edit- "I claim to have been a habitation of the Holy Spirit. That's proof that I carry. I can't show it to you, but only those who believe get that. It's not yours to see because God does not want everyone."
I claim to have been a habitation of the grog wench. That's proof that I carry. I can't show it to you, but only those who believe get that. It's not yours to see because the grog wench does not want everyone.
Please tuber root, your argument for your "proof" is so fallacious it's downright comical. Keep thinking you are some godchild though, if it makes you feel better.
As an ex-christian I took your "proof" and threw it away for more logical ventures.

i am agnostic. it is usually believers who want to know if i believe in god. although i can't prove it, i don't believe, so i'm an atheist as well (unless you would prefer i make up a new term for an agnostic who doesn't take seriously the idea of a god... ?). now you'll tell me about how much faith i supposedly have to see things the way i do - oh well.
