I know pills could eventually countain every nutrient, protein, vitamin, etc the body needs. My question is: is it possible to live just on such a low-mass thing as pills, regardless of its nutrients? Besides water, would the body need something else?
Thanks for answering!

Some have mentioned calories, more specifically the most important source of calories is carbohydrates. You can't concentrate carbs much, and it would be another really bad idea to try. I say another in reference to bleached flour, condensed sugars and so on. Therefore, you would have to take several hundred "bread" pills just to get full. The result would be severe digestive trouble from all the cellulose (coating/ shell) and drying agents used to preserve them. This is why food has a shelf life, because it can't be perfectly preserved and safe to eat.
We are still learning of previously unknown nutrients to this day that nature provides when we don't screw with it.

I would say no. Although pills have lots of supplements, there are no calories to burn in pills, and we need the calories that food has for energy.

Dehydrate infant formula and make it into pills. This is NOT optimum nutrition, but it will keep you alive. (Think about the implications of that statement for babies!)
