Why is it that people in cars have to wear seatbelts and people on motorcycles and buses dont have to wear one? People in cars get tickets for not wearing them and people on buses and motorcycles dont.

In the case of a motorcycle, it wouldn't be good at all to be fastened to your bike in a wipeout. I suppose the law recognizes this.

In the case of a bus, it would seem to make sense that people should be buckled up. My guess is that enforcement issues would have been such a problem that they didn't even try.

concerning seatbelts and motorcycles. In a car the belt holds you in the safety of the cab, if you are thrown out the car can roll over you. on a motorcycle, if you were strapped to it as it rolled over and over(get the picture). with a tractor, if it has a rollbar the seatbelt holds you in a protected area, without a roll bar having NO belt allows being thrown clearand not rolled on top of,hopefully.

Tests have shown that passengers in buses are safer without seatbelts than passengers in cars are WITH them.
A seatbelt is simply impossible on a motorcycle.

You are better off in a motorcycle accident if you get thrown clear of the wreck. Some motorcycles do now have air bags.

Makes no sense--buses are just as bad in an accident--motorcyclists are just big time risks. wear yours and just see it as bettering your chances when you are in the car.... considering the pain you might have for a long time, wearing one makes a lot of sense.

Buses are not required, because they are so big and motor cycles do not have anchor points for seat belts.
