It is played a lot, but the words hold so much meaning. My daughter didn't use it for the father/daughter dance but had a soloist sing it before her and her Dad entered the back doors of the church. They came down the aisle to the traditional music, but "Butterfly Kisses" seemed so appropriate to convey what her Dad was feeling as he got ready to walk her to her groom. I love the song.

Listen to a song called "Always be your baby" by Christain singer Natalie Grant. You have to be close to your Dad to use this though.

Here are the Lyrics...she seriously sounds like an ANGEL....

You were my first love
Always there for me
You taught me how to walk and how to dream
God gave me your eyes
But it was you who showed me how to see
Now I can stand on my own
But I know you'll never let go

I'll always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

You are my hero
And that will never change
You still can dry my tears with just your smile
The one I've leaned on
From my first steps
To walking down the aisle
Now there's another man in my life
But I know by the look in your eyes

I'll always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

Your faith, your love and all that you believe
Have come to be the strongest part of me

And I will always be your baby
No matter how the years fly by
The way you loved me
Made me who I am in this world
I'm a woman now
Not a little girl
Wherever this life takes me
I'll always be your baby

Probably but who cares, you only marry once, and unless you are the father of two daughters, that song is only going to mean something special to that father and HIS daughter, every father and daughter could dance to the same song and have different memories while dancing to it. I say so what!? Its a beautiful song, and why not use it.

I don't think I've heard that song in a few years, and last year alone I attended a half dozen weddings.

I usually don't read questions like that, because I don't like to dance and have no decent song suggestions anyway, but I think people like to suggest that song because it doesn't require any imagination at all to know that the lyrics are saying 'I love my daughter, it's her wedding, and I'm sad'. It is a pretty song, but I don't think people really use it anymore because it's so...blah.

I haven't heard it at any wedding in recent memory. Ive been to at least 10 in the last few years. Us Yanks aren't big on country music though.

I like the Martina McBride's In my Daughter's Eyes and Billy Joel's Lullaby. I couldn't use either though because they make me cry.

You are always welcome to have your opinion, but so are any bride and Father so if they choose to use it it's their prerogative. Of course it would get old to anyone having attended several weddings in a row using the same song, but you don't know the reason they chose it. Let it be special to them and hold your tongue. Brides agonize over their song choices and in the end are usually very happy with their choices. Those who suggest the song are proud of the choice they made. Simply make another suggestion if you don't like it.

This is true, but what other songs are there on the radio that convey the feelings a father has towards his daughter? There's this other song called I loved her first, but see, I listen to country...so that's how I know this. Others are probably SOL.

I hear you...my dad actaully begged me when that song first came out to never play it at my wedding...he absolutely hates it. I'm not a huge fan of it either becuase the story it tells doesnt all relate to most of the people dancing to it and so I feel its kind of cheesy. I dunno, thats just me. my dad and I danced to Becuase You Loved Me when I got married and he couldnt have been happier...we picked the song together. I just fell its become the typical song to use now and that rather then putting some thought into a meaningful song people just choose that one instead.
