they do - munchkin cats have small legs..
you have to remember that most ethical dog people frown on the breeding of the "teacup" type dogs.. most breed registries do not even recognize these dogs...
typically these are runts or dogs stunted through poor nutrion or poor breeding..many have short lifespans..and lots of health problems...
dont be mistaken about some things..eg Miniture Pinchers are NOT small Dobermans...

I've seen they Munchkin size breed of cat. They have short legs and all, but their body looks the same length and size. O by the way I have a cat that is 3 yrs old that is not a munchkin cat but she's small cat weighing maybe 5 or 6lbs. Don't worry she's healthy and all. She still looks like a 6month old kitten to me. Her name is KitKat and she's a tortieshell but I always call her baby and kitten cause I think she looks like one. I've always wanted a cat that stayed kitten sized too. So this is the closest so far to one I've had. The funny thing the other two cats are scared of her and they are much bigger. She isn't spayed but if I do get her spayed she might put on a little weight. She's adorable! If i can find one I will send u a pic of her. http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc93/jimmydalesgirl/Picture007.jpg

Actually they do have cat breeds like that..
I dont think they stay as small as a kitten...but they dont get very big either..
I have a cat named Gypsie and she only weighs like 6-8lbs and thats when she is fat! We thought she was gonna be a big kitty until she just...didnt grow...and didnt grow..and etc..
She is very small for her size and there is nothing wrong with her (health wise). She is very lovable and playful..but does she have an attitude! She thinks that she is the Sh*t and that the world revolves around her and everyone should do her bidding..
But I dont know what kind of breed she is since we picked her up after someone threw her out on the highway..
All I know is that she looks just like a miniture maine coon.
Gypsie * on top and Charlie * on the bottom - > http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4xm63v5 ( Sorry the picture is sideways..I havnt gotten around to editing them yet!)
Also the breed of our cats...is small...Since they are part of the feline family.
Tigers, lions, panthers and etc are the big kitties...and our kitties are the small ones ^ ^
Its the same with the species of the canine family..Like Wolves, Great Danes and etc...and then you have the small dogs like teacup poodles and etc..

I thought that a few months ago, just out of curiosity. There are some people who are developing a breed of cat is smaller, although probably not kitten sized for life, because that would most likely create gobs of health problems. I think they were just called miniature cats. They aren't common yet, and it is really hard to get a kitten.
Then there are cats with very short legs called Munchkins, that remind me of corgi dogs.
Hope that helped.

I don't remember the name of the breed but they have a small breed cat. They aren't kitten sized though, they are just small with really short legs.

My mom got a kitten and it was rescued from a boat's gas chamber. The cat is almost a year old and is the size of a six week old kitten. Very tiny cat :)

Dogs have been domesticated for over 20,000 years, cats for only about 4000 (if you can say they are domesticated at all).
And dogs have been developed into various breeds according to work they do. Some dog breeds were developed to pull carts, some to chase game across the countryside, some to go down holes after varmints, some for protection, some to look cute in a starlet's handbag.
Cats only have a couple of jobs -- killing rodents and being beautiful. There is no need to develop special cat types for special jobs.

There's a breed of dwarf cats, but they aren't kitten sized. They have shorter bodies and legs.
