They're two different species, of course they're different. Horses and cows are about as different as dogs and cats. Nobody expects them to be identical.
Dogs live in packs, they please a pack leader. Cats live in loose 'prides' or alone, they don't have a main leader, though they do have a pecking order. Dogs do good in standardized testing with mazes and training. Cats suck at mazes, but for good reason--for them they find prey in tiny corners and down different sections, so even though a cat KNOWS there's a reward at the end of the maze, they'll ALWAYS check out the different branches in the maze, just in case prey is there too. They're designed to poke into things on the off chance something can be caught.
There's an excellent article here:

The brief reply is no, you can't instruct most cats within the equal method you instruct puppies. However, with the correct cat you can determine and hone preexisting behaviors in order that they will do them on command - if and when they consider love it. The trick is figuring out what, if whatever, motivates the cat after which working with that. With the correct cat and the right motivation, that you would be able to reap the same results as you would with puppies. I've seen cat championships on tv though and even with the professionals who coach their cats to do agility, if the cat's now not within the mood then they only won't do it. It can be no longer like puppies who are invariably grew to become on and eager to thrill. In my opinion I've under no circumstances troubled to train my cats beyond "Get off" and "Come here." they have fine manners and might learn my body language significantly better than any dog I've met so there's not ever been much need. **introduced** so far as terrible reinforcement, spray bottles work however i would best use them as a final hotel. As a rule just shouting "NO" or clapping your arms loud will have to get the message across.

Cats can be trained but it takes ALOT of patience. Cats are very independent and do what they want to do. I've been to a show where these cats and dogs both together have been trained to do different stunts. It was really cool.

the quick answer is not any, you won't have the capacity to coach maximum cats interior an analogous way you practice canines. whether, with the properly suited cat you are able to % out and hone preexisting behaviors so as that they're going to do them on command - if and while they sense like it. The trick is determining what, if something, motivates the cat and then working with that. With the properly suited cat and the properly suited motivation, you are able to gain an analogous consequences as you ought to with canines. i've got seen cat championships on television although and inspite of the pros who practice their cats to do agility, if the cat's no longer interior the temper then they only won't do it. it is not comparable to canines who're continuously became on and wanting to thrill. individually i've got under no circumstances afflicted to coach my cats previous "Get off" and "Come here." they have astonishing manners and can examine my physique language plenty extra suited than any dogs i've got met so there is under no circumstances been plenty want. **extra** so a techniques as detrimental reinforcement, spray bottles artwork yet i might basically use them as a final motel. many times only shouting "NO" or clapping your arms loud ought to get the message in the process.

Cats have a mind of their own. They arent worried abt making their master happy. Cats are smart they can be trained but they dont want to. simple as that. haI do sign with my cat ( i am hard of hearing) i sign to my cat " no" and he will fold his ears back and leave ( if he is trying to get my food or something). he knows what it means My other cat will let me know when he wants to be outside he will find me sit down meow and then make me follow him to the door. he will not use th eliter box he will only go to the bathroom outside and then come back in like 5 mins. haha My oldest cat pumpkin knows his name if he is in the other room and i call for him he will come. I call for any of the other cats names he will not come.
i love my babies.

Cats are not to be compared to dogs in any way. They are not pack animals, they are independant, and aloof. That is what makes them so wonderful. Dogs are more loyal and eager to please and they are pack animals. Cats have no need to please. There's a big difference. It really has nothing to do with intellegance. Both species have their flaws. They just happen to be different.
