The strongest rumor is a "8-Something" number. The Strongest sponser rumor is Pepsi Co. Whether its Pepsi, Mt. Dew, or Monster Drink. An announcement is to be made in 2-5 weeks.

No, he'd be the same guy. Besides, didn't you read the summer 2001 Payboy article? Just call him Junior! I don't think of him as Dale because he's not his dad he's his own man and a very talented driver who could still get something out of the crap they gave him at DEI the last 2 years even if not a win. All the haters just have nothing better to do and may be disappointed he actually knows the cars and is a talented driver in his own right. His only downfall may sometimes be Tony Jr but that was not proven back when he switched crew chiefs with waltrip a few years ago.

Yes, I also heard that. I hope it is true, even though I am not a Jr fan. But I love Mountain Dew and I liked his 81 car in the Busch series.

I agree with Simon. I can understand people wanting to pull for him because of Dale Sr., but I don't understand people who actually think he is even in the same ballpark as far as talent as guys like his father, Gordon, Stewart, and Johnson.
I guess NASCAR will change the Chase to 15 teams next year after Jr. misses the cut this year.

Rumors as of now. I am sure that he will announce it soon. I know he is very disappointed in losing the 8 to Theresa. Hopefully he'll tell all soon. I am a Tony fan but feel for JR not getting to keep his number.

Your guess is as good as mine! It's still anybody's guess right now. Whatever it will be, Jr. has said he will pick a number with an 8 in it that he likes.

I've heard talk of the number 83 - obvious where each number comes from but I find it all a bit too cliche - I like 81 a lot more. No matter to me. I will back him no matter what. Earnhardt forever.........
