Good for you. I think it makes more sense to have proof so you are not duped.

Hmm...problematic and general. You're assuming that athiests actually need proof, when, unprovoked, it's not about that at all. Athiests don't *need* proof; Athiests just believe in proof. There's already faith in the possibility of greater truths that might be proved by science, or simply faith in the fact that one is in control of one's life. What I'm seeing more of on these boards is an impatience with anyone who has faith in something different, and the consequences over "not believing what *you* believe". Just saying "read the Bible" or "you'll find out when you're burning in Hell" isn't very compelling or convincing.
I don't think Athiests are worried about consequences. Agnostics are staying out of it altogether.
I just wonder what it is you're doing to provoke all of the questions over the proof of God. Just be happy that what you believe is making your life work, and that other people might be headed in a different direction, 'kay? You'll eventually get to Heaven, people of other faiths will go to theirs, some may be reincarnated, and some may just slip quietly into a black hole. Allow other people the latitude of saying "i don't need "proof" to believe in something. i believe in it if it sounds right."
There. I didn't ask you to prove anything. Happy?

There are many things that sound right for example Taoist philosopy or that people have one true love. This does not make them true. Another example, it is fairly easy to trick or manipulate the human mind into accepting all sorts of stuff to the point that it will belive that black is red and red is yellow....
This is why atheist and scientists don't trust in experience as a proof -- not to mention that believers in every religion will ave had the same experiences and belief that it is right.
So how do we know f something is true? We test it, we look for evidence and buil a case for it. Take the Bible, it is supposedly not only the "infallable word" of god but a historical record as well. So far the only evidence for it being true is the locations for cities and terrain features - and many fictional books get that right as well.
You can continue to believe what "sounds" right to you but for me and my house, we will examine the evidence.

I'm good with that, as long as you're aware that faith is a personal thing. There's no reason why your faith should make anyone else accept your beliefs.
But I'd MUCH rather hear believers say "I have no evidence - I just believe on the basis of faith" than have to hear them keep falsely claiming to have evidence.
============================
Theresa, that's a pathetic lie. Doesn't the fact that you have to lie about others to defend your beliefs tell you something about the quality of those beliefs? It should.

Then why are christian always asking atheists to prove that God doesn't exist? It's as if the Christians feel that there is some tangible proof of Gods existence than goes beyond mere faith.

As Christians our *proof* is the Bible, the Word of God ...... We have the testimony of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit...... and we hold on tight to the faith that we have..... If we stand silent or if we shout out, we are mocked and scorned..... They ask for *proof* we point out millions .....we quote the Bible , they mock louder and laugh harder.... We ask for their proof, they quote books by people with a theory and ideas......No matter what we say or do, they say we are NOT free thinkers, that we are controlled and like robots.... They answer with OTHER peoples ideas they say they are smart and call us stupid........ We are called crazy, illiterate, killers, murderers, ........ But they believe anything someone writes, even if it was yesterday, and disproved today..... they pick up guns and knives and say words of hate, but they do not hold their own accountable...... We are human, they are human... All are at fault... All will be held accountable...... You can ask this question 10 times a day, 7 days a week, word it as many different times, but you will NOT change anyone unless God opens the heart.......... go in peace........ God bless

Unfortunately you cannot prove it and those who ask you to have already made up their mind.
Just be happy that you have the right to choose to believe in what you believe and don't let others bother you.
I believe in God, I have faith, and I know what type of life I lead, it is not my job to worry about others. I pray for them, but I cannot give them the proof they seem to need, so I guess they will be "Left behind".

Actually you are wrong, some atheists have faith and know exactly what it is but we tend to have faith in what is proved to be real like the human being next to us.

Everyone wants us to "prove" God's existence because they don't like the thought of not being in control of their own life. They also don't like the idea of thinking they will one day be judged for their transgressions.
It is good that you believe like you. It is not the place of a true believer in the Lord to "prove" anything. That right is for The One True King. We are to simply "put the bug in the ear" and let God do the rest.
Trying to force someone to have faith is only going to push them away. You cannot win by force. God knows this too. Why do you think He does not "just appear"?! That would kind of defeat the whole purpose.....
For those who are not receptive, you simply "wipe the dust from your shoes and continue walking"....
