Theocracy is theocracy, no matter who is at the helm.
Church and State should remain separate.

In the end, in the forum of ideas both are welcome on the senate floor... however are they 'the same'... no...
they are quite different ( these are generalizations and not necessarily fitting all Muslims or Christians)
- part of Jesus work in to be humiliated and to bear the punishment for sinners, Mohammed's to be honored, this causes a considerable difference in the tolerance of others views where Christianity tends to be the more tolerant (believe it or no, this is admittedly a generality not an absolute truism and it does depend on the individual)
- loving and caring about your enemies is a Christian ethic not a Muslim one so mercy and justice are far stronger themes under Christianity and weaker themes under Islam In general Christians will be the more generous with other viewpoints (believe it or not, and again this is a generalization)
- slavery is far more spread in Islamic countries and those who fight for human rights will tend to get a fairer hearing in a more Christian government than a more Muslim one (again a generalization)
- making treaties and deals with others not in your group and breaking them is more widespread and accepted among Islamic
- Christianity is compatible with old and new testaments and Islam with neither
- Islam has a much weaker view of creation, believing in a local flood and long ages and not a fallen nature of man where orthodox Christians tend to have a more biblical view
- historically radical Islamic groups see no problem in selling heroin form opium fieds to non muslims to raise money... this would be extremely looked down on in Christian circles and Christians make many mistakes but are far more likely to allow critisism and eventually possibly may repsond to the critisism and reform whereas Islam is far more authoritative and suppressive of criticism( all these points tend to be generalizations and Christians certainly have made similar mistakes to some degree as well... but not gererally as extreme)

Are Christians wanting their ideologies legislated any different than any other group wanting the same? Atheists have an agenda. Jewish people have an agenda. Everyone does they want what they feel is right to be the law. Christians oppose gay marriage because we believe homosexuality is a sin. Other groups want to allow gay marriage because they feel it is fine and everyone should have equal rights.
The thing is in America at least the majority decides what the laws will be. Right now the majority claims to be Christian. This is the way the founding fathers intended it to be. The majority sets the laws.

Actually, a major difference seems to be that while Chrisitans in the West try to have laws reflecting the Bible, Muslims in the Middle East don't seem to care about passing laws at home that support the koran, particularly the part about treating women well. It's kind of left up to each man to behave as he sees fit, apparently. Don't jump on me, Muslim folks, you know it's true. That's the classic argument - "well, that's not Islam, that's cultural". With Christians, the religion shapes the culture.

I highly recommend watching a BBC documentary called "The Power of Nightmares"even though it is pretty long.
It was available on Google Video. Here is a link that explains a bit more about it.

The Christian Fundamentalists and the Islamic Fudamentalists want the exact same things. The only conflicts are over oil and the control of trade routes.

I wish to differ with you. I am a Christian and a politician. I was in office for over 35 years. I never at any time wanted to legislate morality. That is a personal note. I never voted against anything like alcohol sales or abortion but did vote against spending my money on free abortions for others.
You cannot legislate morality and I do not intend to try if I am ever in that position again.

I know there is a huge difference between lobbying, which ALL groups do (gays, liberals, environmentalists, special interest groups, etc.), and forcing through threats, intimidation, taking hostages, blackmail and violence such as bombing and beheading. Christians know that not everyone will be a believer. Muslims know that everyone should be a believer or they deserve to die. Christianity is compatible with democracy. islam goes against freedom.
God Bless.

Yes, very different indeed. We value freedom. They value slavery to the law. We want to protect innocent babies from parents who would sacrifice them as the ancients did in hope of a better harvest/future. Islam isn't about protecting the child but punishing the parents by stoning them to death.

i think of the two ought to be achieved. we could desire to realize out, which I truthfully have achieved, to help those women who've unplanned pregnancies. one way, is to alter the be conscious, undesirable to unplanned. a toddler could be no longer planned at that 2d interior the girls's existence, yet as quickly as we are saying undesirable that asserts some thing relating to the nicely worth of the toddler she is wearing. Roe V. Wade ought to be overruled besides. i comprehend i'm going to get the remark- "it quite is the girls's physique and it is her decision, and what approximately rape". initially it quite is the toddler that gets aborted no longer the mummy- and secondly rape is merely approximately 3% of the justifications that girls get abortions. the final public is merely because of the fact "they do no longer want a toddler". i'm observed and that i will actually say, that i'm very happy my beginning mom chosen existence for me, even whilst it meant wearing me for 9 months and then putting me interior the palms of yet another family members. additionally I truthfully have 2 toddlers who we observed as babies and their beginning mothers chosen existence too. So i'm very lots a professional-lifer here.

No RELIGION'S political pursuits are really any different because they are exclusively to benefit those of that one religion. The level of extremity might differ, but it still remains a fact that these people are only concerned with their beliefs and not everyone else's view at all. Tunnel-vision.
