Italy and the US allow multiple citizenships. However, according to Venezuelan law, dual citizenship is recognized until the age of 25, at which time Venezuelan citizenship ceases if the foreign nationality is maintained.

Venezuela does not allow dual citizenship,
Italy and the US do ,
if you had some descent to Italy ,you could obtain citizenship for Italy,and retain US citizenship.

USA doesn't allow you to have dual citizenship. So if you tell them you have more than one they will make you make a choice to either be only American or renounce your citizenship. If they don't know...I guess they don't know. There's no real penalties that I know of but if you get in trouble in another country, the American Embassy will be far less inclined to help due to the multi-nationality issues.
