Usually, "ser".
"It's early": "Es temprano".
However,
"You're early": "Llegaste temprano".

Yes, it's very common to use "estar"!

"Tienes que estar temprano."

But it's incorrect to use "ser" with "temprano without conjugating it first

You must use SER
Es temprano= It's early
Alessandro have reason, a good example is:
Llegaste temprano = you're early

El llegó temprano = He was early (past tense)

You CAN'T say: "esta temprano", "estoy temprano", or "estoy tarde"

you use estar with temprano because temprano means "early" and is a changeable state.

early is a temporary state that changes often, unlike say gender in which would use ser as it is permanent.

for instance, soy un hombre quien esta temprano.

" i AM a man who IS early"
