I'd rather be free and live! The exception of course would be if I love my job, whichis not the case. I'd always find something to do though, helping people and animals, travel, write, etc. I would use my time for doing good things rather than making sure that the company who exploits me gets richer and richer.

The only way to have any control over your time and income is to work for yourself, and NEVER working for someone else. They can't pay you what you're truly worth, or there would be no profit left, would there? If you don't have enough capital to create a business from scratch, then you should look at network marketing. These businesses are very much like owning a franchise, but without having to pay tens of £1,000's to get started, most you can start for less than £100. It is a home based business, thus keeping your overheads low, and making it more profitable. All good network marketing have excellent training & support, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist to do it. (I'm certainly not, but we're doing great!) You can build it part or spare time around your job until you have a regular enough income from it to leave that job. Then you can choose the hours you work, thus having the freedom to choose whether you work or not, or at least how much you do. There are no qualifications needed, making this industry the only level playing field out there. If you'd like more details, visit toprewards.co.uk

I think that as I have gotten older and more conscious of the world in which I live in, I have found that many employers do not really care about you. The bottom line is what matters. I am at this point tired of begging for a job only to be mistreated even after giving my all. I would rather be able to travel whenever I want. I would like to be able to go to my children's school plays and afterschool functions (you know. be involved) and not have to ask for a day off. No one makes money working at a job anyway. People get the semantics all confused. Working at a job limits what you can make and when you make it.

Very good question. I have dealt with this also. Its a catch 22 because if you dont work, you wont have the money to do the things you want, but if you work all the time you wont have the time to do what you want.
So there must be a balance between work and play.
Also note that too much off time makes you lazy, complacent, and un- challenged. But too much work makes you dull like a robot. So again a balance must be found.

And also there are lucky people who actually love their job. They say it doesnt even feel like work. Because they love to do it and would do it anyway.
So the best thing is to find what you already like to do and get a job in it. So you will love your job.

I understand where you're coming from. I wasn't able to work for many years due to having 5 children. I was working obviously but not getting any income.
When I did have the opportunity to go out to work, I hated the fact that I was being told what to do, when to do it and how much I was worth.
I now work from home, around my commitments, No boss to bully me and I earn money which means I can tell my self how much I am worth by the hours I do not anyone else.

Its flexible too so how bad can that be. I have been doing this now for 2 years.

You have to do what you want to do. I have a career, but I don't work; I have qualifications but for the time being I'm not putting them into practise.

I am in a band and I believe we can make it (we have the tunes!) This is what I want to do. I cannot work and do the music, it's one or the other.

If we fail, I have a career to fall back on, a career that I would be happy doing for the rest of my life.

I think it's always good to have a Plan B: do what you want, but make sure you have something else if things dont work out.

I used to work, then i had a baby and wanted to stay home with her. She just started preschool and I am SO ready to get back to work! I dont have to work...we have survived on one income for 3 years so surely we could continue, but i do like the idea of putting ALL of my income into savings, plus i tend to shop in my free time. With a child i rarely got to do "what i wanted, when i wanted," but even if i did, i would like to have a job. My suggestion to you is to maybe find a job that you really enjoy so there would be no worries or stress :)

I would much rather work and put away savings into 401K's or IRA accounts so I don't have the anxiety of worrying if the government will take care of me when I'm old or whether I can survive on a minimum social security payment.

It's "the grass is greener" syndrome!
I worked from a very young age and wanted to be free to do as I pleased.
Now I am registered disabled and would love to do some kind of work; going stir crazy and spending too much time on answers!

I would rather be retired at an early age with a high retirement income, be healthy and then enjoy life. Or if younger win the lottery and not have to work. My husband has retired and I don't have to work, it is nice being able to do what you want to and when you want to!!
