It isn't poison for your dogs, but it might give your dog the runs considering it is not a normal part of the dogs diet.

No I don't think it is dangerous but it is not healthy for them. Unfortunately my two Chihuahua's love Cat food and my Maine Coon loves dog food, go figure. A dog will eat anything so I really watch it with the Cats food. However Cats will rarely eat anything that is not good for them. Cute story. You probably read about my Maine Coon, anyway he has been on medication for a long while now, and it became almost impossible to give him the pills. My Vet suggested I mash up the pill in his wet food. I mashed that pill to smithereens and put it in his can of wet food mixed it up real good & put it in his bowl, the cat would not touch that food no way. After that everytime I gave him the same food WITHOUT the pill he turned his nose up and walked away. So Cats are dumb, yea labout ike the dummy who thought they could fool a Cat.!

Cats are high performance machines, and therefor require premium fuel. Dogs are more like dump trucks, they get along better with more quantity of lesser quality. Dogs who eat cat food regularly grow fat, and commonly battle pancreatitis and can even develop diabetes after years of the rich diet. Incidentally, these are the same reasons we discourage dogs from eating human food.
Cats are the other way around, they will be malnourished on dog food. It does not contain the proper amino acid content that cats need for proper growth and muscoskeletal conditioning.

My vet always tells me I shouldn't feed my kitty human food, but I've done so with my 14 yr old ever since she's a kitten. She's party of the dinner table, she has her own seat and never sit on the table (cute and sad at the same time lol). As long as it's not overly processed, like take out, I would only give a little for taste. Never as actual cat food. No dairy, tomatoes, chocolate, grapes, cheese, sugar or anything greasy or fried.

I always heard it wasn't bad if the cat ate the dog food, but don't let the dog get into the kitty food. Probably will make the dog sick.

Dogs need less protein than cats do, so when they get into the cat food they often end up getting the runs (diarhea). It can upset their stomach too. So keep them away from the cat's food.

The protein to fiber ratio is different for dogs and cats. If you feed a dog cat food it will not get the nutrients he/she needs and is unhealthy.

No my dog digs into my cats food bag every once in awhile. But it might give your dog diarrhea. They might vomit too because of the high amount of protein.
