Well, the Yahoo people were wrong who told me that it would be a bad idea to bring popcorn shrimp to my friends wedding reception because suposively nobody would eat it. The Bride said it would be okay and I brought it and before the end of dinner the shrimp was completely gone. I had 4 to 5 pop corn shrimps per tooth pick and about 50 tooth picks. Before dinner was over the dish was empty. So much for all the people on here who said that wouldn't happen. Has anyone els ever recieved popular advice on yahoo questions and answers that you've proven to be faulty advice?

Good thing I wasn't at the wedding. I would have gobbled up all the shrimp in sight.

I asked for help in healing my damaged hair, and this guy told me to rub battery acid on my head...

Hmmmm, I didn't see the original question. Who thinks shrimp won't be eaten? At every event I have ever attended, the shrimp gets gone!

At any rate, I am glad you had a good shrimp experience.

YA is full of questionable advice, some offered by people who claim to be expert on whatever subject is in question. Take most of it with a grain of salt.

The only thing I would be concerned with is if they were a Malasian couple. I was reading a book on wedding customs/mythology and I think it said the shrimp symbolized or caused impotence, so traditionally they don't serve it at weddings. More of a custom than anything else, though. It would probably only be the old people who would believe something like that and have a problem with it, anyway.

I think shrimp would be a good idea... I haven't gotten bad advice on here before... but maybe the people who answered your question before just didn't like shrimp... good thing you did your own thing!

Some people give answer just to get points. But some give answer to what they think is true. Everybody has different opinions and experiences. It's good that you had good experience with the shrimp cocktail, but, maybe some people had bad experience with it. It is our choice to choose which advice we would like to try.

Some of the advise on here is way out there. You can either take the advice or leave it, that part is up to you. Sound like the wedding was a success?

Gosh, I would have had some if I would have been there! Didn't answer your previous question.
Yes, I'm sure there are LOTS of times the advice on here isn't "right" - however, Answers is just here for opinions, it's not anything more than that.

I think the people who GIVE bad advice are the same people that ASK all the "Am I pregnant" questions in the parenting section.

Hmm... shrimp at a wedding? Duh. Of course there should be shrimp at a wedding. Popcorn, coconut, cocktail, wrapped in bacon, etc. (hehe I sound like Bubba from Forrest Gump!)
