My dogs come and go out their doggy door. We have a fenced yard, but I don't suppose that stops a dog napping.

Usually, the dognapping occurs during walking time, and in the dark. Dognappers are known to pose as joggers and sneak around the person walking their dog. The dognapper then continues in grabbing the dog, and running off with it. This does not always occur, as some dognappers have been known to harm the owner, or kidnap the owner as well.

Dog nappers pick a expensive or a champion show dog as their target they will watch your daily routine each day until they think it is the right time dog napping usually occurs at night when its dark so there are no witnesses.I remember when somebody tried to steal my Toy fox terrier puppy but what they didn't know that my pit bull was on the other side of my house she bit the man from what eyewitnesses said at least 4 times then after the incident the man was forced to pay a $500 dollar fine and 48 days in jail for attempted theft but anyway it never a good idea to leave your dog outside alone

Most theives will watch daily habits in order to find out when you're at home and when you're dogs are outdoors alone.

I have a Great Dane and someone tried to steal her when she was just a pup. They thought I had left home, but my car was in the garage. At the time, she wasn't big enough to peep over the privacy fence, so this was someone who had seen her playing in the front yard when I would take her out on her leash and that had been watching our daily habits. After that, she never goes out alone, even though she is a huge baby now that most people are afraid to approach simply because of her size.

Unless there is a string of dog thefts in your town, this is something that you cant keep worrying yourself over.

Dog thefts occur during day, mornings, evenings and nights. It depends on the thief and how bad they want the target dog. They usually pick more expensive breeds and champion show-dogs if they are doing it for monetary reasons.

Can they get in the yard. How big is the dog. Will the dog bite.
And have a lot of dogs in your area gone missing.
The police in your area will know more about what is happing in your area.

Hope know one gets your dogs.
