I usually run around my neighborhood everyday b/c I'll be on the track team in school. Is this ok or should I give myself a break or something? I really do enjoy it everyday, its addicting, but my knees usually get so sore. Any tips?
And is it true that you should get protein right after exercise? Sry for all the questions but hey thats why Im here in the first place :)

You've got a great program going and I congratulate you for it. Just a couple suggestions.

1. Make sure you have good shoes
2. Rest 1 day a week
3. Avoid the hills - that's what is hurting your knees
4. INstead of hills and intervals on your runs, take 2 days of training at the track, running 10x100s running the straights fast, then recovering on the turns. Half mile warmup and warmdown.
5. Eat soon after your runs but stay away from Gatorade and such unless you exercise in really hot weather. Drink lots of water.

Good Luck

You should not run 7 days a week, give yourself a day off. If your knees are sore you should find out why and take care of them before they get worse. If you can run on some surface other than pavement it will be easier on your body. You should eat some protein within 30 minutes after exercise. If you are running track it will be good to do something different rather than just running for time or distance everyday. Run some fartlek or tempo or interval workouts at least once a week. You want to stress yourself and keep your body used to running at a faster pace than the comfort zone you are in when you run around the neighborhood.

I would say, keep running! The more you run, the easier it will be to start track. Before I run I usually eat a plain peanut butter sandwich which really helps get my energy up. For your knees, i would say Ice them for 20 mins then off for 20 mins

Keep running!

Good Luck on Track

If you wish to shed extra pounds, you have to burn extra energy than you eat. Calories degree the power required to transport a exact weight a exact distance -- different elements like velocity have minimum influence. You wish to hide as so much whole distance as you accurately can, most commonly without reference to velocity. And that implies over a couple of periods, now not simply in a unmarried consultation. You would quilt plenty of distance in a unmarried consultation, but when knocks you off your toes for three days or whatever, it is not valued at it. You additionally most commonly wish to stay energetic for no less than 30-forty five mins in step with consultation to peer advantages. You'd most likely get extra from your slower, 30-minute minimal periods so long as you do them mostly. It's well if you'll sometimes throw in quicker days so your frame additionally does not adapt to a unmarried movements as good, nonetheless.

running around the neighborhood is fine. once your on the track team--youll understand more about what you need to do. give yourself a break only if you need it. make sure you are running with correct form to. straight back..quick steps...run on the ball of your foot...itll come easier the more you start to run. ask your coaches about it. make sure to stretch also! and drink plenty of water.

protein after exercise is not really true. to get faster, just work hard. it doesnt really matter...depends on event really.
if you are a runner--or jumper complex carbohydrates is what you need.
if a thrower, protein wouldnt hurt.

how much are you running, how many miles? try to avoid concrete if your knees are starting to bother you. also your feet may not be landing right and may need different shoes. drink lots of water to stay hydrated, and eat plenty of potassium, so you dont get cramps. if its hurting really bad, to the point where you are limping, TAKE A BREAK. dont over do it. :]

If you starting to feel pain start running everyone other day.
you should also try wearing one of those hot cold patches on your knees.
don't eat immediately after exercise, wait at least half an hour. Drink as much water as you can, and stir Emergen-C into your water to restore electrolytes.
