Just out of curiosity, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheist, all of us, do you guys know the difference between Apes and Monkeys? I hear this **** all the time. Christians claiming we came from Monkeys, even Atheist saying our DNA is close to Monkeys. If you don't know the difference, please do not try to argue something you don't understand.

Yes, I do, although there are two main classes of monkeys - Old World and New World.
Humans (a type of great ape) are most closely related to chimpanzees, and then to the other great apes, and then to apes in general (including gibbons).
In popular parlance apes are sometimes referred to as monkeys, but this is not taxonomically correct.

Ah, yes, and of course, YOU understand, don't ya?
btw, Christians did not come up with the "from monkeys" thing, evolutionists did. And about 1975 when they finally figured out how absurd that was it was changed to common ancestor. Also did you know that monkeys and Apes are closely related. If not don't argue something you don't understand.

Well, yes, technically there is a difference between the monkey branch and the ape branch of genetics, and humans fall on the ape branch - but we shared a common ancestor at ne point, just as cats and dogs did. Our DNA is closer to monkey DNA than to cat DNA.
But most creationists can't differentiate between any of them, so I understand that, in responding to them, some atheists might simply not bother with the finer points. Our fingers get tired, y'know?

Yes, I hear this all the time. It's actually pretty hysterical to watch these Christians and Atheists in a heated debate about how we did or didn't evolve from 'monkeys'. I don't even bother to correct them any longer because it's just so damn entertaining. I just laugh.

Monkeys have a tail. Apes don't. Monkeys are a lower primate and share similarities with most other mammals while apes and humans stand apart. Apes (gorillas, chimps, orangutans and gibbons) can use tools and have a culture more similar to hominid (human) culture.

I never argue the monkey point. I think it's cuter than saying apes. Have you seen an orangutan? I don't want my DNA any where near those things.

Monkeys have tails, Apes don't. We are closest in DNA to apes.

Apes have larger bodies and relatively larger brains. They aslo lack tails. Apes tend to have wider torso and a shorter stiffer lumbar region. Apes also have rotary shoulder joints allowing them to brachiate and hang from their arms. Monkeys are quadrupeds.

Never heard a Christian claiming we came from monkeys. You must run with a very liberal group
